4WD Toyota Owner Magazine Article - SE4RJ3
As some/most of you know, 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine has offered to run an article on this year's SE4RJ and I will be submitting the text along with a selection of pictures in the next month or so for a mid-summer release in print.
If you would like some of your pictures to be considered for the article, please make SURE that the originals are at LEAST 2MP resolution before submitting them. I'll set a limit of 20 pics per person (that's more than fair...). They need to be resized to 640x480 (or close - doesn't have to be exact) in order to be posted in this thread.
If you submit your photo and it is selected, you will need to sign a release for it's publication, and you must also agree to pull the picture from public viewing for a minimum of 120 days. You will also have to provide me with a digital copy of the original so that I may burn the compilation to a CD to forward to the editors. If the picture is dark, overexposed, etc, and you don't have the means to correct it, then I can do that before it's submitted to 4WDTO.
I don't mind discussion in this thread, but lets keep it on topic as much as possible and I would prefer you to post a description of the pic, who's driving the rig, the location (trail or obstacle name), date, etc... Please be prepared to have all this info in detail available at the drop of a hat if chosen.
Let's limit the date of submission to no later than midnight on May 31st. I'll have a few people help me with the selection of the final pics and announce the "chosen few" a week or so later. When those are announced, we'll have to temporarily delete this thread (w/ some help of the admin) while the article runs. It may be brought back to life at a later date after approval from 4WDTO Editors.
THANKS!

I hope they meant to say a min of 2mp not 2 mb. I generally make a rule of 3.2mp for print but I don't know how big the images are that they are going to print. Are we including pics of the FJs or do you primarily want pics of 4Runners?

either or and both. if it happened this past weekend at tellico, then it's game. you have up to 20 pics, so you can do some of everything, FJ, 1st/2nd/3rd Gens, tacomas, camp shots, etc.
thanks for catching the mistake. i think 2MP is a minimum for small captions, and anything that's a "feature pic" should be 4MP+

Well here are my favorites so far. All of my images can be had around 10mb in size so they will all fit in either spot. Also most of these images have been cropped so if they have different aspect ratios they need to fill I can get them the full image and they can crop it to their needs.

This is me getting "artsy" with Marc's two trucks and asdf in the background

not mine. there aren't any shots of it...
it will be a group of about 8 or 10 that i will suggest and then let them pick the featured pics. we'll probable pick about 10 "features" and around 20 "caption shots" and then let them use them as they see fit. i'm not editing the article. i'm writing the text and supplying the pics. they'll do the layout.

Sorry about that, I have never been one for remembering names. :pat:
Chris,
I wouldn't think that there is enough resolution in the last few pics for print. Were they taken with a video camera? If so they would have to be less than 1mp and they would stand out next to the other higher resolution images.

Some of me!
Here are the only ones that heve been posted of me. Daniel (dh6twinotter) took these. I know Jeremy and Selig have not posted anything yet, so there will be a lot better pics to choose from when they chime in.
Austin, youre pics are amazing BTW.

No pics of my 85? Well maybe I got a chance with 2 rigs there. Although Austin can take credit for the '96. Maybe Selig will get some posted soon from Fridays ride.

Chris: Thanks for the pics, but in all honesty, I need you to take a look at the directions in the first post. The original needs to be a minimum of 2MP resolution and those last few won't meet that. Also, if you could resize the ones that you post to a 640x480 or something similar (smaller than now), then that would be great since i/we wouldn't have to scroll.
Also, any pics that are selected must have written consent from you, along w/ a caption describing the pic (not a problem) but you must also agree to remove it from public view for 120 days.
I just want to make sure that you saw those stipulations!
Thanks!

I'll see what I can do tonight. The bottom smaller pictures are 640x480. Should I just remove those, then? I can resize the bigger ones later tonight. I don't understand why they'd want such small pictures, but that's fine.

He just wants them smaller for choosing. They will need the bigger image when they go to print.
And yeah, go ahead and take the smaller ones down. They are way too small...
