4 state 14 day wheeling adventure report

This year's trip started here at home in Norcal. I then went East on 80 to Winnemuca and cut up through Idaho to my stomping grounds up North. I spent a week up there wheeling and playing with my family and friends. I then spent a few days with my Dad on his 700 acre ranch. After that I spent a night in Lewiston Idaho with some friends. Then I headed to Walla Walla WA. I spent the night with my brother and we hit up Juniper Dunes for an awesome day of dirt bike riding. Finally I headed off for Browns Camp Oregon where I spent the weekend with some old friends wheeling some gnarly West Coast stuff. The trip ended with a two day trip down I-5 from Portland. Here are the specs

2235 miles
6180 lb trailer
5400 lb 06 Tacoma
Lots of gas! 11.5 mpg average though

The load

Playing in Idaho. There was still lots of snow up there!!

The wolves were alive and well also up there!

Even found some rocks

The view from atop Austin Ridge lookout tower

And a Ford Courier

Wheeling on Dads ranch

Awesome view from the top of the property of the Clearwater River just outside Orofino, ID

Screwing around on the ranch.. Dad has cool toys

Dirt bike riding at Juniper Dunes outside the Tri-cities, WA

This was the last time I got to ride my bike before it got stolen

Pics from Browns Camp where I hooked up with Tofer and his brother for a crazy weekend of wheeling and camping.

Waterfall... this stuff was wet slimy and nasty

Canopener

The gang

Awesome views up there once the fog cleared out

Trying to dry out my jungle rot.. 3 days of wet feet got old

Chris navigating a man made rock section

He made it look easy... with a good spotter of course..

when ya gotta go you gotta go

The carnage report was not too bad. I had to winch myself several times which I have never done. I have a BAD mystery noise coming from somewhere in my drivetrain that I'm not sure it is right now.

Nice shot of Shasta on my way down I-5

Overall it was an awesome trip despite spending a ton in gas money, having my bike stolen and tearing up my Runner.

How did the tacoma do pulling the 4runner (besides using a bunch of gas)?

Looks like a lot of fun! If you're interested in making an Eagle lakes run sometime soon that'd be sweet! I wanna get up there before the fire restrictions are enforced this year...

Was there any snow on the sonoma Range, South of Winnemucca? How about the Santa Rosas East of Paradise Valley on the 95?

Doods! AWESOME pics! Looks like a blast to be sure.

More awesome than that though, the trash bag on the back of the 4runner. HUGE props for picking up garbage fellas.

Dude I'm so jealous you have access to a piece of property up near the Clearwater... We go up and run the Lochsa (east of Orofino, feeds into the Clearwater along with the selway) every year!!!!! Didn't make it this year becasue of the snow adn tyhe fear that the river levels were gonna spike. There and Lowman / the Payette river area are my favorite places to camp. Great Pics.

Cheers

When I was in high school we used to play up on the Selway all the time. We started out by going to the hotsprings along highway 12. Then we would usually stop at the Gateway to the Wilderness. The Selway falls are pretty killer. We would usually finish it off with a stop at Three Rivers. I really miss that area!

You never answered this question. I am very curious myself.

That trip sounds like it was a freakin' blast, I'm so ready to take a trip. I just want to load up and go, I don't have a trail rig but I really just want to do some scenic stuff and camp and have a good time out in the woods.

Great pics.

Great pics. Trip looks like a lot of fun. It looks like the mud makes some of those trails much harder. I'm heading up to Shasta for a bike ride and camping. Doesn't look like there is much snow up on the mountain, bummer.
