Hey Mike and Pat
Since you guys are heading out to Carvacre there is an issue I had with a land owner while Brad and I were there last weekend.
At the very end there is a brand new white steel pipe gate that is kept open. When we got to this point we had to stop for a brush chipping crew. No big deal so we aired up there instead of out on the road so they could work hoping that they would let us pass when they got to a good break point. That didn't happen so I walked down to the crew and a rather large man comes to meet me half way. He said that he will be at it for a long time and that it is his private property past the gate. And that Cleavland Nat Forest ends at that gate. I explained to him that if I had known it was priv prop I would not have tried to go through it and apologized to him for trespassing on his land. He was kinda like oh well and I guess you will have to go back the way you came. I said okay and turned to walk back to my Runner. I am not sure if he respected my willingness to comply or what but he turned of the chipper and said that he would try to pull off to one side so we could pass. I thanked him and told him that I would plan for a longer wheeling day so I could go back the way I had come. He let us by and that was that.
Just thought you might want to know. I have never gone back down it so not sure how that would be. Seems like it would be okay though.

Interesting info, Eric. I think that since that road is used by many other people to access their homes that it is a private road. Doesn't seem like it would be that much worse going down, except if there was a group going the other way on the trail since it is kinda narrow....

And like eric said, we should plan on going up and turning around. I think the exit trail will be off limits this time. brad

Wait that wasn't it,same spot but wrong vehicle, oh yeah...

You really should have found a more original spot to put your truck on its side. We can do better than some jeep!
Say, there's this new trail called Devils canyon that would be perfect for you...

Hey guys look at this map of the carveacre area in the cleveland national forest--
http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/cleveland/pr...ettlake-nw.pdf
I can't tell for sure, but it looks like it is all in national forest. But the end of the road is listed as "State/County/Non forest road"
It would be nice if this map could refute that guys claims.

Yes I agree. It was not the time to get into it with the guy so I played nice but in the back of my mind I think he was being protective of his neighborhood and trying to keep us out.
THe real problem is that when people finish that trail they haul ars down that road and it smokes/dusts them out. There are horse stables and home real close to that road so it probably pisses them off and they are tired of it. I don't blame them.
I did ask why if it was his property he did not have it posted as Private Prop No Tres. He did not answer that. I think he may own the property on either side of the road. I need to ask a ranger about this.

the people who are building at the end of the trail have taken the liberty of moving a very large dozer in front of the gate so you can't get out. Going back down kinda sucked but at least i know I can run the trail both ways without any problems. BTW I had fun mike. We will have to go again soon. I'm thinking of a camping trip to AB or somewhere near by in a few weeks. I have to see how many recruits I can get to go.
