Was there again today. looking at the fence line I really wonder what he really owns. He is pushing that road I'll bet he is on public property. We were there from about 10:30 till about 3 never seen him at the property. As we were getting ready to leave 2 sheriffs deputy stoped and talked to us for 20-30 minutes really nice guys. If you catch me on the trail some time will fill you in on the conversation.

What really made me mad was that some BUNG HOLE had riden around the seasonal gate up at the end. Would have felt better had been JEEP but it was quad. You know we fight hard to keep that open then have some ****** that will make all of us look bad.

Was surprised how much snow was gone since two weeks ago. Anyonre have a report on CENTRAL CITY?

COB,We were there last night and today. We went by as the BCS was stopped. Grey longbed, silver taco and a stock chevy tahoe. They stopped and talked to us too. My truck was by the school and one of those peoples dogs started for the road. I gabbed him and returned him to they house after playin with him for a minute. They asked if we were boke down and we just told em we were waiting for the bunch to show up. Seemed like nice people.

We ran to about 100 yards from the gate and said forget it after the tahoe got stuck twice. We ran all the lower trails and started up ironclads a few times. I have some pics im uploading.

Wow - I went to Arizona for a couple weeks and things turned really complicated....

Thanks to all of you that have been active in this conflict; your small group effort will help build and maintain a positive representations of off-roaders. Now that I'm back in town, I'll gladly help out any way I can.

Just wanted to share this with all of you, VICKI is the wife of the ATV RENTAL guy in ALLENSPARK. I got this from her yesterday, becareful.

Jerry, Wanted to let you know so you can perhaps pass the word; Someone put nails and at least one upright screwdriver in the trail on Bunce School Rd. We got at least 5 flat tires. They imbedded them in such a way as to keep them upright and put them in rocks so they couldn't be driven around (per Jeff, I didn't see them). The May Allenspark Wind (the local, monthly paper) has a few articles and letters to the editor about Allenspark ATV Rentals. The letter to the editor by D. St. John listed several rumored complaints (no actual facts, all of which I can personally guarentee never happened) and then suggested "vigilante enforcement". Jeff Called the Forest service and they are having the Boulder County Sheriff investigate the nails and screws at Bunce. I suspect it is the same person who kicked in the door of our 1966 Mercedes 230 SL and made a huge crack in the side. Someone also stuffed something in the tailpipe of my car; no permanant damage although it took us a short while to figure out why it was spitting and chugging.
Anyway, I wanted riders to be warned before somebody gets a blown tire and gets seriously hurt.

Vicki Mead

Wow - Thanks Vicki for letting us know. This is a serious problem. While our club is willing to go up and help any landowner fix their land caused by folks in our sport - one or 2 landowners do THIS???? I hope you let the deputy involved in this issue know... If not tell me and I will email him. (I do not want to post Deputy or landowner names here)

Thanks COB - we were last up there on the 5th with like 7 yotas and none of us had a problem - BUT we only did the Iron Clads and played in the puddles - didn't go down towards the FS road gate... that might be where the nails are...

I Cant believe it. I spoke with a lady saying she was a land owners gf/wife and was talking about how the guy we bumped in to didnt drink on the trail and how he would never do half of the stuff he was said to do. The nails in the rock bed is BS and i cant believe this is the stuff going on. Any word if its on or around the posted private land? If they want to get people fired up thats a great way to do it! I sure hope the people who did it understand what people will do to whatevers around at the point the tires pop.

What a mess! It really sucks cause it was a good trail and still had a bunch to explore. I talked to a wildlife guy who said the gates should open anyday so we were going to run up there and try to run it tonight...Looks like we may try for something else.

Sad part is that I think it is really just afew that are the problem, in general most of the ppl of ALLENSPARK are great bunch. It is the local sickos that are the problem. It is funny they holler because of distruction to the trails but have no problem causing damge to other ppl property.

Talked to JEFF he had tried to call the sheriff get some thing done they were very reluctant to get involved. The FS on the other hand are investigating the matter.

Thats good that something will be done. From what i hear the gates open in the next few weeks so i wanna go see the plain crash. We went out for a run lastnight but tried to stay clear of that area because of all the BS there. I think i will steer clear of there for a while......I like my tires and my feet with out holes.

Then they win. Keep riding the trail. Document-with pictures. Take pictures of being responsible and confront those who are not. We have to police ourselves and force the issue with private owners who chose to live by the park.

I brought this back up as I found that there is a 40ft right away for the road in that area where that fence is located. Well the road and fence are only about 16 ft, the fence is about a foot or two away from the road. It is on PUBLIC PROPERTY! He falsely accused you folks of damageing his property when it was him that was trespassing. It has bothered me since that incidence that the fence was so close to the road.

Ok just got a call from BOULDER COUNTY, they confirmed that there is in deed a 40ft right of way thru HAGGERTY PROPERTY. He has a letter on the way informing him of a complaint filed and to move the fence back to the easement line. It just makes me mad all the crap you all had to go thru because of him.

Have sent e-mails to COHVO in hopes of getting them involved although have heard they are already. May need support from all of you on this. Don't know if any of you have heard of DOCTRINE of PERCRIPTIVE USE or RIGHTS, what it amounts to is it is COLORADO LAW. Any area trail or access that has been used out in the open for at least 18 years, can not be sut off from use by te land owner. It duz not seek title to the ground just continued use by the parties that have used it and had free unrestricted access over the years. Even though this was over the fence it is the pricipal of the thing and the access rights. ALLENSPARK residents would love nothing more than to shut the trails down to all OHV traffic. They have their eye on the IRONCLADS now.

I have to agree the guy in a truck that damaged the wetlands needs his gonards removed. But we all know that it only takes a few to ruin it for the many, we need police these actions ourselves. The ALLENSPARK group claim SHERIFF was looking into this. The guy apparently went to a near by BED and BREAKFAST used the phone to call someone to pull him out. According to RRESIDENT the SHERIFF was going to trace calls and make contact. Well has been what 2-3 weeks or more and still nothing I think they are blowing smoke in hopes of buffalo us.
