Name a good / free file converter

I am looking for a good and free file converter program to change mp3 -> wav files and back again. Too bad none of the Windows Media Players do that (unless I am missing something...).

Let me know what to use.

Do a search on the 'Net for Nero.
You can use a demo of Nero 6 for free

I have the full version of Nero, and it rocks.

Looks like the last downloading of Nero 6 ended. I will keep my eye out for it when the new pack comes out.

link works now whoops had http in twice

I for wma to wav to mp3 and mp3 to wave to mp3 I use the creative play center software that came with my audio card. you can get the sofeware from Audigy mp3
You can do it with windows media you just have to pay like 20-30 bucks for the plug-ins

RazorLame is straight forward with a small footprint. Also can do batches, IMOP the best wav<>Mp3 converter

Microsoft would prefer it if you would use the .wmv format.
