Magellan Sport Trak Map. I got it as a Xmas present from my dad. I love it, i bought a clip to mount it in my truck and have 12V power. It is easy to use, waterproof, and it floats (they claim)! It has 8mb of memory, ~2mb of which is already taken up by the base map. so I've got about 6mb to load detail maps to. I have the MapSend Topo software. It was a gift, and I love it. But if I had to trade it in or do it myself, I'd upgrade to the Magellan Sport Trak Pro. It is the same base device, but with something like 23mb of memory! You can always use more memory. that is the one downfall I think of mine, is that the memory is not expandable.

I've been doing the same thing snowboarding, my top speed so far is 53.3 mph! I think we logged 40 miles that day, too. Although I swear that I went faster acouple times. I think (and I've noticed) that you have to maintain a speed for a couple refresh intervals for it to "count" it.

I have the etrex vista. it is fantastic, lots of features. what i like most about it is how it saves tracks. i go on a lot of backroads that meet with other roads, so at the end of a day, i may have been on 15 different roads and often i can't remember them all. downloading the track and route maps are really easy. roadrunner, download the updated basemaps. i bought the whole bundle (gps, car charger, metro map, topo map) from REI. thank god for gps, alone in the mountains its often saved my butt.

I've had several runs where I could have sworn I was going faster... but I definately knew that last one was the fastest. I logged somewhere around 50 miles a couple weeks ago. I was up at Blackcomb mountain. One run was 9 miles long!!! It definately makes the day a little more fun.

Yeah, I was surprised at how much terrain a person covers in a day. the 40 mile day was only a half day at Moonlight Basin near Big Sky, MT. My goal is to get over 60 mph! My buddy says they did it one day and got it over 70 mph.... I dunno if I believe that, but I think 60 is doable. just sketchy...... at least I'm wearing a helmet!

The legend served me well for backpacking (light, long batt life).

I got the magellan because of swappable memory chips (can put different maps on different chips), electronic compass (jury is still out wether I like it yet), and a larger display. The unit is larger and heavier. Have not really played with it much yet. I think it will work better for the Geocache games.

I have left my gps on while in my car overnight. Next day it showed a max speed of over 2000 MPH. What do aliens want with my Taurus? Why did they bring it back?

HAHA! They downloaded your track history so they can follow and monitor you. You better check for body implants or homing beacons....

You might want to see a proctologist about that anal probe. If you don't you might start farting flames or have a giant satelite dish come out of your anus.

Garmin iQue 3600. Awesome unit, kind of crappy battery life, but there are several workarounds with that.
