What would you do with 6x9's
I have a pair of Alpine type -R 6x9's just sitting around gathering dust.I have a 3rd gen which, obviously, doesnt have 6x9's stock. What would you do? Sell them? Fab something?...

Give them to some kid in the neighborhood that is just getting his/her first car together and let him enjoy the thrill of freedom in his/her first car.

Alpine makes GREAT speakers for the price (well at my manfac. discount price)
BUT 6x9's sound like garbage compared to a nice set of 6.5" components. Its pretty easy to install a nice set of components and an amp in a third gen. Look up rockslide's install thread

I actually have 6.5" Phoenix Gold components. Still need an amp for my sub though...

I have a Phoenix Gold sickness. There is a pile of old school stuff in my basement. Once I get the truck running its all waiting to get installed. Which PG comp's do you run? I have RSD's. 1x10", 2x6 1/2", 2x5 1/4", 2x3", and 4x1". I can't wait.

I have the RSD's also. I haven't installed them yet because I don't know what I want to do for a sub amp. My 12w6 is a DVC 6ohm sub. Ideally, I'd like to go with some shallow mount 10's in a nice enclosure, but I'm debating how much effort I want to put into putting the system together.

Do you have an amp for your fronts that you want to match? You could go with the RSD amps but they are pretty big. The Xenon is big as well but puts out its rated power from 4 - 1 ohm. That way you don't have to worry about the load...and if you change subs it's easier to match to the amp.
Wish I could get a 12 like you but I park downtown everyday and want to keep my system. I'll have one 10" under the drivers side jump seat.
I will be running MS amps in my truck. My MPS amps are stored away until I get a nice weekend car.
Post up pics when you get in. I love the audio threads.

I have a 4 channel Kenwood amp sitting around that looks to fit perfectly under my front seat. The amp does 60x4 RMS at 4 ohms, I believe, so I just planned on bridging it into 2 channels for the comps up front. I never considered the PG amps for some reason, but I'll look into them today. You make a good point in that I'd like a versatile amp, because I don't know how long I'd keep the 12 in there. I haven't even put it in there and I'm already talking about sometihng new.
Oh, and I have a broken 12w3 if anyone wants it...
