IFS in a 83
Anyone every put an IFS setup in their first gens. I just picked up a Supra diff and axles and am eyeing the whole IFS thing and liking it. Always been a little off, but the IFS would be cool with a trailing arm linked rear.

I've read up a bunch on this setup using the Supra diff I have. Shouldn't have issues. The Aussies do stuff like this all the time.
Oh I'll have fun and I don't need luck, I'm that good.

The aussies do some pretty weird stuff dont they? Obviously you could fab this up...your confidence tells me that. I understand wanting to be unique and push the boundries....what I dont see is the benefit.

I think I can get more overall ground clearance with IFS, definitely more to the diff at ride height for sure. This will help with any wheelin I've done.
IFS handles better at most speeds over a crawl.
Big Flex especially overflex is a fad and 90% of us don't need it. I think the Ultra4 cars have this figured out. But this is an opinion and can't be argued so let's leave it alone. I drive Toyotas, Dodges and I like guns, can't argue any of this it's who I am.
Flexy rigs are tippy, I like hills and bumps.
Not looking for more travel that the solid axle setup I have has, I'm running RUFs and have plenty of travel.
Centered diff.
CAD images will follow as I continue.

Not trying to get super long travel I was planning on 12"ish front and maybe 14" rear using trailing arm lowers and triangulated uppers. I did this 25yrs ago on a short track racer. Worked good, handle good at 60mph in the dirt.

12" travel on the front will be easy with blazeland or a total chaos kit.
Chevy 63's on the back should get 14" or so travel without shocks going through the bed.
Keep in mind that with a blazeland or chaos front kit you use t100 axles so you will need a wider rear axle to match the wider track width.
I plan on using a t100 rear axle and using the space outside the frame for shocks going through the bed to a bedcage on the front part of the bed so I can still use my bed for truck duty.
Got to haul the YZ and everything else when I don't want to pull a trailer.
I plan on running some deavers spring under axle with 18" of travel.

Ok here is the truck as we know it, 2RZ, A340, Duels, lockers, 63's, RUF's, plate bumpers front and rear, I 've got a build thread here and on Pirate. This isn't a pretty truck or a DD that I need to worry about getting be back and forth to work. It's built to wheel, it needs to be built different to suit what I do. It's all been done by me a crazy old grey haired grandfather but not quite as old as Marlin.
Blazeland does not make a kit that will do what I want out of this setup nor does anyone else, I have the Supra Diff and Supra axles for the inners and centers and will swap out the outers from an IFS truck. Only time will tell.
