Fender Gap Cover
I know this is kinda weak for the fab section, but this place is kinda slow anyway so...
After installing a 4Crawler 3"bl I had a nice gap here in the fender.
So, I decided to cover the gap with some metal I had laying around.
The process was simple. Stick some cardboard in the problem area, then trace the pattern to the sheet metal, then bolt the sheet metal to the truck.
In the end I used sheet metal screws that I also had laying around.
I eventually plan to get my lazy ass to the homedepot to get some rubberized undercoating spray and make it all nice and uniform. Now the pics...
This was the second template that I made out of cardboard. The first was just several pieces taped togther.
Cardboard is your friend.
Traced the shape on to the sheet metal and cut/bend.
Then I drilled it in there.
I will keep you posted on the final image with the rubberized spray. Oh yea and I'll post when I do the front.

Looks good, lots of options for that. You can also get the gap covers from
- http://www.liftlips.com/
They snap right in using the stock mounting holes.

Wow, you know your doing somthing right when "the man" says it looks good. Haha.
I thought about going soft like that, getting rubber or something to cover it. If that was my choice, I would have gotten some neoprene rubber off ebay for cheaper. The metal was free to me, I found it near a dumpster one day. One mans trash...

I would cut it up higher so it doesn't contact the frame. Since the body and frame flex differently you will have metal rubbing on metal and it won't take long to rub through the coating on the frame and expose it to rust. But then again, the underside of your rig looks extremely clean so maybe it's not an issue for you. Paint that BLING!

Thanks for that link! Good info! Do you know how many inches of body lift they are designed for? I didn't see that anywhere. I'd hate to order and find out they are for a 1" BL when I have a 3" installed.

I used heavy duty pond liner from Home Depot for mine. I've had them for a few years now and they are holding up great. I've got left over if anyone is interested.

The whole shop over at FROR got sick. That, coupled with the holiday and the crossmember that I ordered won't ship until friday, maybe monday. I am thinking about chopping the horsecoller and raising the gas tank on friday though.
