axle swap brake question

im considering mounting up a set of dana 60's under my 88. found them real cheap. one question for you guys that have done this, what did you do for brake line fittings and drive shafts. i know you can get a 44 to toyota pinion flange, does anyone make one for a dana60? did you just make up a set of hard lines to come out of the calipers with a standard thread fitting on one end and a metric on the other. thanks for any help.

Jess at High Angle has the flange you need. He carries them for 44 to toy and D60 to toy. As for breaklines you'll need to get something metric to fit the line thread in at the junction box then sae to fit the 60 end. If you go to disk brakes you can run banjo fittings. My front 44 uses toyota stuff w/ the sae bolt through the fitting. The rear should be just the same as the front in this case

You'll need to upgrade your master cylinder, especially if you go to disc in the rear. You can find a nice kit at www.rockstomper.com.
Jesse at Highangle has the flanges you need.

I had adaptors made from a local shop from the chevy master to the Toy lines and from the Toy lines to the Chevy brakes.

Depending on your rig either swap in an FJ80 master cylinder or a GM setup

I don't have any plans, but Markus may need them since he has the same Master cylinder setup. Don't throw them away!

Markus' budget isn't what mine is (was). He already spent 2 days redoing brake lines. )

The chevy half ton or 4.3 s-10 master cyl. works well all you half to do is fab up a quick adapter plate to fit the m/c. As for brake lines just take a small length of hardline and double flare a metric fitting on one end and a sae fitting on the other. I recommend '87 and up 2wd chevy brake lines as they are nice and long. I will try and find some pics of mine for you.

the brake lines was a concern i had, i fiured special ones would need to be made with metric on one end and sae fitting on the other.but i wasnt sure which kind of line to use that would fit both fittings.

You'll need to either make your own brake line with a different fitting at each end, or buy an adaptor.

Yeah, its really pretty simple, 3/16 line fits both sae and our metric fittings.

when i did my dana 44's front and rear...for the brakelines i used a local speed shop...they have pre made stainless teel braided lines and different fittings that thread right in....all three were $80 installed in less then one hour and they dont expand like rubber ones do...and they are plenty long for my that sits on top of 39.5 IROKS

go to napa and you can get all of the adapters/brake lines. I believe a company called weatherhead makes them. Check out this: http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/4runner/brakes/

this guy explains it. He used a few extra adapters that I didn't have to use, but he has a very good write up. take care.

oh yeah, napa had a line that was 10mm at one end, and 3/8" at the other end. that will eliminate the need for as many adapters. you will only need one more adapter to bump it up from 3/8" to either 1/2" or 9/16" (I can't remember which one is right)
