What kind of truss is this?!



The truss is still on my old truck, did it come with the Rancho lift that was on when I bought it?

This is why Im asking:

I installed my ball joint spacers last week (took them off my old truck), got my alignment on Friday, went to the dunes yesterday, and by the end of the day... Yes, it was out of alignment again...

This time it was going the other way though (before the tires were: \ / now they are / \ ). So I was reading a thread about a downy truss question which eventually led to their website, it was all good and fine (because I have a truss on my old truck which I can swap over) until I read this: "This will throw the front-end out of alignment, and prevent realignment until after you visit a frame shop"

So I ran to my old truck, measured the distance between the two rear chamber bolts then went to measure the distance on my new truck. they were the same, so hopefully I didnt bend my frame...

no idea...that is crazy and very low!!!!

Post a pic of the front....it looks liek a red tube or something....is that the remnant of a Rancho lift kit??? That's my only thought

Where's the diff? I think it looks low cause the diff isn't there.

no it is low, the regualr rear diff crosmember, is not much lower than 1 inch below the arm mounts. The are usually flush with the arm mount, dimple down at the low point of the 3rd member and return to the following arm point.

That looks like it hangs down 3 or 4 inches....wierd and those arms are super cranked....probably because of the BJ lift

There is no engine or diff Thats a pic of my rolled 86 4runner, I took the engine and tranny out and put it in my new 4runner.

The front red crossmember is a diff drop crossmember that came with the Rancho lift.

That front end looks messed up. Both front truss bar are not stock at all.
Looks very custom.....

my truck is a 4x2 and has a stock truss bar... but it doesnt hang anywhere near clsoe to where that hangs......

the rear truss looks welded on....defintiely part of the rancho lift considering that rancho is the only lift comany that dropped the diff and not the arms on these trucks.

What the heck is the advantage of doing it that way??? seems like you loose ground clearance...

The front crossmember is Rancho for sure, but I dont think the rear truss is, because everything that seems to come with the Rancho lift is red and bolt on. That rear truss is welded on for sure.

I have no idea what the advantage is.... maybe for looks? Cause it sure looks beefy

the purpose is when you jump your truck, the back part of the a-arm mount doesn't get wider which throw off the alignment.

Do you have the Rancho upper control arm?

Nope, the previous owner said they couldnt get it aligned so they took the Rancho control arms off and put some stock ones on.

I think the t-bars let off a bit after I went to the dunes, the drivers side is rubbing like crazy because its an inch shorter from top of rim to the bottom of the fender!

Think its time for a SAS.
