Trail Gear Gears?
So I'm starting to look at some 5.29s for the Yota. I've bought some stuff from Brian over at Wab Fab recently and he had great pricing on everything. He's got the TG 5.29 Gear sets for $139.
I talked to Brian about the gear sets and he runs them in his Runner and loves em.
I wanted to get some more opinions though. Anyone else got them?
I know they've got a life time warrenty on them too.
Also, anyone know who makes them for TG?

Just so you know most stuff "USA" made is manu'd in China now. I'm reading a quite a long book on it right now in fact. Its a lot cheaper for companies to outsource, they have great incentives and most of their technology is the same as ours, we actually sold it to them. For example Ford has begun to outsource to China because they finally are technologically capable of building engines and learning these new technologies. (They also worked with GE(America's Top Company per Fortune) to learn turbine work). Give China another 10 years and it will beat out most top Western Countries in its technological capabilities. That being said I got all kinds of TG gear equipment. I have the 5.29's w/ 35's on my Rig now. I have about 500 miles on them so I can't really say much. I do like them and do notice a difference.

I've bought some of their stuff through Brian and really, who can you screw up an axle gusset and axle armor? You'd have to be a real idiot.
I've got a few more things on my too buy list from them. Mainly because it will simplify my build.

4.88s are more sought after for they are a wee bit stronger....O so i think.
I will be buying the TG 5.29s/install kit, just because im not hard on my stuff and the warranty. i need it to get me home and drive me around the rest of the week.

What are the odds of having a ring gear break when properly installed and broken in?
What would it take? Or in other words who's had a ring gear and/or pinion break and in what situation?

Just loading the gears can break them. If you know about loads and tolences then it's definately possible.
Since I want to do a V8 next year, I'm wondering if upgrade to 6cyl thirds would be a good idea.

I've seen plenty of 8"ers hold up to V8... Its all in how you wheel/drive and what tire size you use.
A good buddy of mine (cargun on here) has been running stock birfs and stock inner/outers with a 3.0 (I know weak) 4.7s in the T-case, 4.10s, locked, and 36" IROCs and hasnt had a lick of problems. Same goes for the rear (which I wouldnt expect to have problems with his combo).

Really? You were told that? Have you ever bought an TG stuff?
I'm not here to start any pissing match between TG, MC, All Pro, Sky, etc.
However the armor I bought from Brian which was made by TG is frigging beef and good quality too.
