Tires

I currently run 33" MT Baja Claws, thing is i do more on road driving than offroad, but i enjoy going thru the mud every now and again, most wear is due to driving on road tho, im i need of new tires very soon and am debating weather to get 30" BF All Terrain or 30" BF Mud Terrain? i know i ll save on fuel effieciency with these tires being they will be light than my current MT's. my truck is a 1985 manual 5 spd toyota pickup. by the way i have a 4 inch lift i dont know wether to stay with a 33" tire or reduce between 30-33... i need help man, all opinions needed in the BF's, Mickey's are badass and look hot, but they are too much tire for th amount of offroading i do vs the amount of on road driving i do... off topic i drove on the freeway for the first time and i was barely pulling 60 mph tops, is this normal, cld it be the tires? and also when shifting to reverse my gears tend to grind what is this? pls help the newb

Get some 30-32" AT tires. Don't buy tires for the "look", but them for your needs. Sounds like you have too much tire for your needs.

if you regear with the 33s it would be alot more road worthy...but you are wise in thinking that maybe your have too aggressive/big of a tire for your needs...with the 4" lift you dont want to put too small of tires on otherwise it might look funny...but its all personal preference...however I would maybe look into some 31" BFG ATs they are a good compromise.

I've had Thornbirds, got'em for the looks....then I went back to running 31 WildCountry's on my '86 truck. I think you should check on a 31/32, I also run 31x10.50 on my 4runner. Both AT tires.

I just noticed the post above....I got a 94 v6 2wd runner and a 86 4x4 truck

Soundin Good

Nice... gettin some answered i somewhat expected, and gainin some new pointers as well... i knew i came to the right place, so far i agree with what you have all said... so its "Needs before Wants" ok sounds good lets hear some more opinions on tires preferably between BF A/T and BF Mud Terrain, i was also thinkin 31"s kinda a fair trade cause yeah 4" lift too small tires and it looks odd.. but yes keep the threads comin, thank you all

Heres a Twist

ok so i saw a new tire that looked good the Firestone Destination MT... now regardless im not going back to MT's Baja Claw, so im willing to bet i WILL save on gas, and because i dont wanna spend too too much i will reduce from 33's to most likely 31's... so is it just me or will i save on fuel with any of the following BF AT/KO, BF Mud Terrian, Firestone Destinaiton MT Vs. MT's Baja Claw 33's
NOTE: by the way Jimabena74 congrats on the new baby... must feel hella awesome to be a dad : )

used to have 33x9.50 BFG All terrains on a Jeep. Worked awesome in the snow. Good tread pattern. If you are still thinking of going the M/T route...maybe look into the Goodyear MT/R. I have them on my truck now and love them. Wouldn't think you would have to worry about the wear as much since yota's are pretty light.
