ball joint spacers
i have read several threads on this topic and have yet to find a general concensus. I have a 88 pickup with a 4'' superlift suspension lift, i only have 10.5-11'' of clearance under my front skid. would bj spacers be a good idea to help get more clearance, and how much would it throw off alignment?

Yes, but it will be hard on the steering components.
The better solution is to run a taller tire. I run 33x10.50 with no lift and have the same clearance as you do.

Ball joint spacers work well with the 4" IFS lift kits, adds a little more lift (if needed) plus added wheel travel:
