Replacing Serpentine Belt

I took my '01 Tundra to the dealer for a lube/oil/filter. When I picked it up the serviceperson/salesbarker said, "you've got big trouble with your pickup." He said the oil was beginning to sluge, and that it'd need a few engine flushes; the brakes are down to their last mm; the serpentine belt was cracking; and that I have a leaking front shock.

I said thanks for the input. I really felt like he was selling me hard to have high $ service done right away. I then went to local auto parts store for shoes, pads, and a new belt. I'll have the shocks looked at when I get new tires soon. Pads and shoes shouldn't be too hard.

When looking under the hood at the belt maze, I couldn't find where to loosen the belt. I'm sure it's somewhere simple, but I'm just missing it. I don't have a manual, but would like to get it changed out.

Any input, Thanks in advance

I have a 01 tundra to and I have never heard of all that going bad. I think they just wanted to get money out of you.

serpentine belt

Measure in 8" from the left side of the radiator and look straight down at the motor. The bolt you need is just below the clamp on the radiator hose that comes from the thermostat housing It is a long head bolt and requires a 14mm wrench. Twist it to the right. This is the belt tensioner and it releases the tension on the belt so the belt can be removed. On the radiator support is a diagram of the belt path. There is a note that states "left hand thread" That is the belt tensioner Visit www.boostedtundras.com Rob
