2008 Tundra is Scaring me.
My 2008 5.7L Tundra has started acting all sorts of weird. I've been having issues with the starter, but I've just kinda been waiting on it to go completely out before I paid to replace it.
But recently (this weekend) I went to start it and it didn't start on the first try. When it did start (on the second try) the Check Engine light was on, the VSC light and the 4Lo light were both flashing. I tried cycling it through 4 wheel drive, it went into and out of 4Hi but wouldn't engage in 4Lo. I drove it for a bit, stopped it. Let it sit for 30 minutes, and when I started it back up, there were no lights (check engine or otherwise) on.
Later the same day, I fired it up and the 4Lo light was flashing and it was beeping like it was stuck in 4Lo. I popped it into neutral and I heard the transfer case make its usual racket (electric shift!) and the light and beeping stopped. I drove it about 10 miles and stopped it. Let it sit for an hour, and when I started it up again it did the same thing. This time, I drove it for a mile, cycled it into and out of 2Hi/4Hi/4Lo twice, and drove it the 9 miles back home. Once back in my yard, I shut it down and restarted it with no issues.
I've left it sitting in the yard, afraid to touch it and considering getting rid of it before the electrical gremlins get worse. Been driving my '85 because I trust it more now...
Any ideas what might be causing it?
Someone told me that my starter issues might have something to do with it, but I don't see how.
