Fink, the SCX-10 RTR comes with Tamiya battery connectors
while they do get the job done, I had problems with mine coming loose and I would randomly loose power after only having the truck for about a week. Deans have a spring on one side of the pins on the connectors, so when you plug them together there's a physical force holding the pins together, unlike the Tamiya connectors that basically just slide into one another, and the plastic outter part of the connector is what holds the two ends together
you can see the spring pretty good on the side of the pin in this photo
and Corey, that's a creepy avatar

Thanks for the info Travis!
Looks like I'll either need to get an adapter or just swap the connectors out on both the battery and the truck.
Would a case of beer be enough to talk you into doing it for me?
Is it difficult to swap the Tamiya connectors over to Deans? I haven't soldered in a long time, and will need to go buy one...
I ended up getting two Gens Ace 5000mAh 40C 2S1P (Direct Version) batteries and the Thunder AC680 charger. Two batteries and a charger for right around $110 - way better than I was expecting.
Truck should be here on the 7th, and the batteries/charger will probably be here on Friday.

lol, it aint no thang, I'll solder them bad boys on for nothing but I need to get a new tip for my iron first... it's all but completely burnt up, lol. you could probably pick up a Tamiya to Deans adapter from a local shop in the mean time to get you by, but I wouldn't consider it a permanent fix since the Tamiya connectors are still on it and can still cause issues...
and it is a large capacity battery, BUT, that thing will have you wheeling for HOURS without having to stop and change batteries or worrying about charging it. the only bad thing about such long run times is that you often get bored before the stupid thing dies unless you break something, but that's a different story

We'll see how I like them. I may end up getting some super cheap ones that I can just use and not worry about.
I just hope I don't catch anything on fire while charging them...

how do you have enough time to browse YouTube but not enough to cut open a box?
as long as you charge at the correct amperage and voltage, you should have to worry about any fires unless the battery gets physically damaged

well guys, I went ahead and sold my SCX10 that I use to have so much fun with...
it's been sitting on the shelf for a month now not getting any attention, and I'm having a little more fun with the fast RC's
it sold today and I'll be shipping it out to it's new owner in Pa tomorrow
the funds from it's sale will go towards one of these

Got my hobby room somewhat put together.
$45 table from IKEA and a banquet table from work for free - not 100% happy with it so far. My self-diagnosed OCD is making me want to get matching tables in there. We'll see what I end up doing.
I have an E-Maxx, T-Maxx and RC10TC3 out in the garage that I need blow off with the compressor before I bring them in - they will go on the shelving unit with the SCX10 and Blitz.
