Are you freakin kidding me???
I just called Randy's Ring and Pinion to get a quote on having my truck regeared. "About $1500" the guy said. I about fell out of my chair! Shaking, I asked how much the addtion of an ARB Locker would cost, "About $1200".
Let me do the math here. Northwest Off Road will sell me the R&Ps for about $400 total. $1500-400=$1100 in labor for this? Like I said above, "Are you freakin' kidding me?"
For $1100 I may well get some friends and try to do it myself. Who else in the greater Seattle metro area can be trusted to do a good, but less expensive, job?
$1500? Geez, I am going to have nightmares about that!

I was quoted the same price for new Yukon gears front & rear with labor.
I drive up to Everett and it takes one day. If longer, I stay in a motel up there since Everett is a good jaunt from me, and then drive home the next day.
I'm sorry to say I won't be doing this. My next play Toy I buy in the future I'll make sure the owner has already done this.

I got a locker and lower gears for $395 by swapping in junkyard diffs. Did all the work myself except a tiny bit of welding on the rear gasket face. Now I have 4:30 gears which is perfect for 31s.
I'm going to 33" tires and they are too tall for those gears. So on the horizon is Marlin crawler 4.7 to 1 transfer gears or a second transfer case, or both. Local pull a part junkyard wants $125 for a T case so I'll just need the adapter and driveshafts to have low range and super low range. LOOK OUT ROCKS!! next year you are dead!

If that was a quote for dropping the truck and then picking it up, then that is darn close. The front IFS is a real bugger to take apart, especially the newer trucks.
I pulled my rear, sold it, and swapped a complete rear. For the front, I ran out of time, so I had one shop do it. I did it for a little less up front because the guys liked the RD90 so much, but it sounds on point to me.
If you pull both thirds and have them regeared, you should be in for around 200 a third in labor. That does not include parts.

Is that the complete third member or do you have to drive to them and they install the gears on your existing 3rd member?
I know that inchworm is asking 750 for a complete 3rd member with elocker. 225 more for housing modification for older axles.
Steve
EDIT-Oh, that's for front and rear (duh). that makes more sense.:pat:
