Write-up for suspension lift install?
I was pondering this morning......if I were to get ome's, It'd probably cost me around 600 bucks (ballpark) for the parts, and then 300 bucks for install (estimate).
But if I were to get saws.....installing the front would be a lot easier? Are the saws already set up for you so you can just pop them in once you get them? Or would you need a spring compressor as well? Cuz the part with the spring compressor is the part that bothers me, cuz I don't know the process of that.
Either way, I just thought if someone wrote a detailed write-up, it would save some of us mechanically inclined people a few hundred bucks and give us the experience we need. Also a confidence booster that we installed our own lift!
It might be a big job, but maybe somebody could spare the time?

Some good stuff here
SAWS basically just bolt in as fast as the old ones unbolt and come out. No coil compressor needed...
Its really not too bad to DIY. There have been a lot of posts on the process here and on ODW. I bet you could figure it all out...

Its not too bad. I had never done any type of suspension work before installing my lift, and was able to do it based on the writeups I found here. I would set aside an entire day to do it, and if you can get a friend, it helps. I did the entire thing by myself, except towards the end I had a friend working the jack to help me get the SAWS installed.
You don't need a spring compressor for the front. I used a compressor for the rear to help me get the new OME springs in, but thats primarily because I didn't have anyone to push down on the axle while I put the spring in.

There are a number of options to doing this, I happened to go with what's known as "OME/OME" in the rear (OME springs / OME shocks) and SAWs (Sway-a-Way, which are adjustable) in the front.
You'll want to talk to Mike though and see what's right for _you_. There are a number of decisions to be made; cost, ride firmness; adjustable front-end, etc. that will factor into your options.
The parts count is really quite low. Don't worry about having stuff laying all over the place and missing pieces. You're basically "just" replacing the front and rear shocks/springs.

Seriously Rob, I think you can do this on your own and save the 300 bucks. I think Steve schaefer has a writeup for the OME install in the rear, and Bajataco has instructions for the SAW install.

yea I think I"ll probably end up attempting this myself, but I'm probably gonna go with ome's up front cuz I don't have the $$ for saws right now.
Just that I'll be pissing my pants every step I take.

Something else to consider, if you have a spare vehicle or a friend to take you....
Pull the frony strut assys. off, then take them to Firestone, Sears, or some shop that has a spring compressor. Ask them to disassemble your old ones, and re-assemble the new ones for you. Then go home and install the new ones. That's a safe method and you could do that for under $100 I bet. And you'll still get the satisfaction of doing 90% of the work yourself.
