Would You Say The 4Runner Is Somewhat Quick?
Alright I was at the light when a stupid Sentra SE-R pulls right beside and decides to rev at me. So I decided to race the lil because I wanted to see how the 4Runner would perform against it. Light turns green, I had him off the line and just started slowly pulling away and I can hear him pushing his car as much as he could. I was surprised how well my stock 4Runner ran against the SE-R. I'm Just not sure if thats good or not. What do you think?

Even with my mods (gears, headers, intake, exhaust) and my 5-speed, I have a really hard time beating anyone unless I do a clutch-burning tire roasting launch. I hate doing that.
I would say the 4Runner is "average" quickness in regards to SUV's of its same generation. The newer SUV's are starting to leave us in the dust unfortunately.

Yeah the 3rd gen just has the low end grunt to keep up on initial take off. i got toasted by a rsx-s mr2 turbo. Even an ae86 Toyota Corolla takes me on the low end but i pull away in the mid to high end.

No offense here to anyone as we all love our yotas. However, they are not fast by any means. If you are looking for speed and acceleration in an SUV, I'm afraid GM has them all beat. My 2 cents.

O2SE is right, 95% of all street cars are slow. In the grand scheme of things, "FAST" is under 11 or so on the quarter mile....
To see if that dude was racing you, you should do some research into his car. Just do a search for it and find the hp/tq and curb weight specs. And you'll have your answer.
My 2nd gen has whipped up on a base model Xterra thanks to the 3vze's low end grunt and flat torque curve. But then again 15 year old v6 against a 2year old 4cyl....

i "beat" a lifted Jeep Wrangler with my 2nd gen (4cyl/auto with a header and 4:10s on 31s) it was a little 4cyl 5spd on like 33s and the kid didn't really know how to drive it well (i hope otherwise those jeeps really are crap..) i smoked him off the line and backed of when i hit about 80mph ....i guess that made him feel good cuz about 2 mins later he trucked on past me with a stupid smile......damn jeeps.....
