Tow Hook Bolts

There are 2 tow hook bolts that hold the tow hook in under the front passenger bumper in. It seems either the bolts are stripped or whatever's holding it to the frame (i.e. nut) behind has come loose. No matter what, they won't come out now and they won't tighten.

They turn forever and there doesn't appear to be a way to get into the chasis frame to hold the nut while tightening the bolt. The nuts were probably welded on but have come loose for some reason.

Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me with a recommendation? I'd like to be able to get the bolts out, replace my tow hook, and bolt it back on..

As I recall when I took mine out to mount the bush bar they seemed to spin forever.

If they are stripped, maybe you can wedge a prybay in and pull the bolt down while turning in order to get som purchase?

if the prybar idea dont work you may have to cut the bolt head off and drill out remaining bolt and retap the hole.

I believe you are probably right on this one. When I installed my ARB, I had to remove these bolts and they are a pain to remove. They are a fine thread so you might want to make sure they are not moving (the bolts are long - 35-40mm). If they are stripped cut the head and drill out is the method I have always used.

I took mine out about a month ago to install the ARB without any problems. I don't remember any nuts just a threaded cross-member.

Good luck,

Warren

Mike,

Lafayette. How about yourself? I was planning a trip to the Badlands this weekend, but with the snow I decided to wait.
