Was it you who said you swaped tire for 265/70 17 and had no rubbing issues and you reset the Nav/tire computer.

Cause I know I asked a while back about tire size and what will rub and somebody said they went from the 65 to 70 with no problem, thats all I want is 265/70 17, Yokohama Geolandar AT+II

No, not me... Aside from floormats, syth oil, and window tint, my 03 is stock. Heck, I don't ever have griots on it yet.

edited to say: I have jacked my wheels to the stops and I have a good amount of clearance between the front flaps... Well more than the 1/2" gain from the 70's would bring. You guys must be really aggressive !

What Toyota SHOULD HAVE done was make the "Sport" models the off-road model and lifted it 2-3" and upgraded the tires and rims. Kinda like Chevy does with the Z-71 mark. I got a Limited because I wanted leather, quiet, a place the throw a bunch of stuff, but keep it clean and safe, and be able to go down unimproved roads. But, I feel for you really/off-road guys.

Goodtimes,

I never had any rubbing from the stock 17" wheels, regardless of what I was doing.

But you do hit on a good point - be sure of backspacing\offset when working with new wheels ! When fitting the new wheels to my truck, I ordered all 4 wheels\tires, had them air up only one, put it on the truck, and checked out all of the clearances. The local shop was OK with the possibility of the wheels not fitting since they had no idea what would fit on the truck. With all of the changes, unknowns, and potential risks, I'm surprised they didn't ask me to leave !

Toyo,

I live on the "West side". Avondale is out by Goodyear, Glendale, and Tolleson. And yes, I do drive into the Phoenix area, every day in fact. It's about 15 minutes to downtown, 25 minutes to Tempe.

Lefty:

you're lucky that you don't experience any rubbing Even in my stock form, I can rub the flaps even in it's stock aired 36psi (ish). The technique is making a 90 degree turn onto a ramp w/ just enough speed to compress it enough to hear it rub!

Also rubbing is somewhat noticeable when you air down alot and make some extreme turns with just enough speed too...

But I know as soon as my Downey's are in place, that will end!

Anyone want to make me a set of body lifts now?!?!?!?!

Yeah backspacing is critical. But I'm already set on a specific rim/tire combination that I know should work as it's worked on all other toyotas. My goal to make sure the 285's muds will fit w/o any issues. I'm sure I'll have to take the mud flaps out as well as the wheel well casing too. Probably have to flatten out the sheet metal parts too but that'll be upon installation.

Hey Edge-

Saw you were asking about the geolanders. Shortly after i bought my V-8 03', i removed the stock 17" setup and replaced them with Konig "Tremor" 17 x 8.5 wheels and 265/70R17 Geolander AT Plus II tires. I am not sure exactly what my wheel offset is, but the overall package fits well. I have done no suspension upgrades and only rub my front left mudflap on a full turn to the left...the tires have already rubbed a small grove into the mudflap, and rub less and less as the days go by. The front right has only slightly rubbed a couple of times, depending on variance of slope and turn...the left side is the only consistent "rubber". I am positive if i was to take off my mudflaps they would not rub. I am actually going to try to fit 285/65R17's in the fall...same 31.6" in height but 11.2" wide vs. 10.4". Would look a little better on the stance. I would highly recommend both the tires and wheels, as this is my second set of the geo's, and the silver painted wheels look great with the galactic grey on the runner. I hope this can be of some use to you guys. All in all, 265/70R17's will fit under a stock suspension with minimal rubbing.

And anyone who can help me on the removal of my side "SR5 4WD" silver plastic letters would be much appreciated. Good luck, I'll get some pics up after she gets tinted on wednesday.

To debadge your Runner use a hair dryer, dental floss/fishing line and finish up with denatured alcohol. Park your vehicle in full sun for about twenty minutes to soften the adhesive first.

I actually used WD-40 and fishing line to remove my side badges. Squirt just a big around each of the letters, wait about 2-3 minutes, then use the fishing line behind the letters to pull them off. Follow up with a good wash and wax, and your good to go !Took a grand total of about 15 minutes to remove them from both sides. Took another 3 hours to wash and wax the truck...

larger tires on the STOCK wheels...

If I move up from the 65 to the 70 on the 17 inch factory wheels, will there be a lot of rubbing?

It seems like lefty says yes, but has someone else done this?

Also, has there been any more news over the past month on lift availability for 4th gens?

If you do it early enough before fading, you won't have a problem with outlines.

Thumbs up Lefty, any more pictures of your rig?

I was reading through the old posts and your pics are not showing up for me on the post. Can you try a re-post or do you have a page with them? How bad would the rub be with no lift?

Tom.

Tom:

Here's the link that has the pics...

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...5&pagenumber=3

FYI, I rub with stock everything! Must be some worn shocks or something hehe... Only during full lock and with abit of momentum though.

Looks like I'm the only one to experience this
