Hey guys i got a question about the tire balancing thing. Does that mean that after you get tires someplace mounted n all that you gotta go to a toyota dealer to get them balanced too with that adapter??

4Runna,
I bought Bridgestone Dueler AT 265/70/R16s from Discount Tire Centers here in Los Angeles. My father has been using them for years, so I naturally followed. Until now I'd been happy with their services, but I have this funny feeling they DID NOT balance/align my truck properly. That being said, i'm going to change to another store. The one nice thing about them is that I bought their "lifetime alignment/balance and rotation package" which means that I don't pay a dime when I go in to get things done.
JasonB,
Thanks for the info, i'm going to call my dealership to check to see if they have it. I'm interested to see which dealers are using the adapter.
Craig

I doubt that Discount has the Haweka adapter even if they have the correct Hunter machine. I'm budgeting in a balance at Toyota with my next set of tires. Hate to say it but the odds of getting a tire shop to correctly balance your tires on stock rims is very small.

Hey Craig,
Thanks for the info. Mad Chemist and I were chatting about where to buy the tires and I think I'm going to buy mine at a Bridgestone/Firestone store and get them mounted there. Tire Rack has them for $115ea, but that doesn't include shipping, mounting and balancing... Shipping is the killer for me.
Depending on my gut feel of the store, I may or may not get the alignment done there as well. I think alignments go for about $90 in the Seattle area from Toyota dealers.
At last check, the local Firestone had the Dueler A/T Revos for $150 which included mounting and balancing. Factor in another $90 for an alignment and $60 in sales tax and I'm looking at a $750 upgrade. Whooo Weee!

4Runna,
OUCH!!!! I paid 100 each for the regular ATs, and was quoted 120 for the Revos.
Victor,
Your right, They don't have the Haweka adapter, and when i showed and advertisement to them in their own industry catalog, the guy was like:
But like I said, since i've paid for the lifetime alignment, I'll continue to use them for at least rotations and alignments. I'm going to try and get a balance from someone who has the haweka adapter. Thanks again guys for your input on the matter,
Craig

Gonna throw a cog in the wheel and recommend the KUHMO Road Venture AT51s(I also currently run Hankook I-Pikes RW11s in the winter time). Check out the reviews on the Kumho(only negative was, for some, wear) and the price point is downright freaking awesome! I run the 265/75R16s and paid $152 CDN each and they have about 1500KMs on them now (bought them two weeks ago). They are an excellent tire for the price. Great in snow (seriously!!!) rain and even on the dry. They balanced well & easily and the wear is 540 Traction A Temperature A. I have also run them in the sand and gravel and I am seriously impressed. I have run Hercules, Dunlops, Bridgestone, Toyos and Hankook on my daily driver and can tell you I would put this tire on the top on my list....the second would be the Toyo Open Country.
I would look at General and Hankook for the price point as well.
EDIT: Ohhh, they are also quiet!
