Thumbs up So who wants a 3.4L Unorthodox Crank Pulley? We need 50 people and a test vehicle!

Ok guys, I have been going back and forth on email with Unorthodox Racing to get some questions answered about the UDP/crank pulley. In summary here is the deal:

1. Crank Pulley: $180 - $220, need 50 people, and a test vehicle to run the dyno before and after at Unorthodox (NY) free.

2. The pulley set: Need 50 people in addition to the crank pulley "The pulley set could be a two piece, from $ 240-280, a three piece, from $ 280-320, or a 4 piece kit from $330-450."

3. According to Unorthodox, Gadget, and others, the crank pulley will not negatively effect the balancing of the 3.4.

Here is the last email:

Christian,

It would have to be specific to either a crank pulley or pulley set, no mix and match, 50 of each component. A crankshaft pulley could be from $180-220 depending on the size. The pulley set could be a two piece, from $ 240-280, a three piece, from $ 280-320, or a 4 piece kit from $330-450. We need to see the vehicle to make a better determination, it will cost nobody to come by and have us take a look to get a better idea. We will also handle the cost of the dyno time once everyone agrees to move forward with deposits.

Anytime,

Shawn
Moral to the story. We need to decide whether or not we would want to go with the crank pulley, or the pulley set. I say crank pulley. We might be very stretched to get 50 people....

Not such a good idea if your looking for a little extra power. I have seen two motors distroyed because of aluminium crank pulleys. One Honda and a 2JZ. Stock pulleys are dampened and solid aluminium ones are not. The pulley cancels out unwanted crank vibrations. That why back in the early days of drag racing undampened pulleys were banned (a few people were killed because the pulley exploded). How's that grab ya.

Unorthodox says...

There will be no vibration issues with any product we make.
I dont know. It seems that no one can agree on this.

Just know that the option is open if anyone is interested.
They will do a prototype and dyno run before and after for free. So if anyone is in the NY area and wants to do this when we have 50, then let me know.

On the Nissan 30VE (190HP) the Unortho. lightened crank pulley is used all the time. Lot's of guys over on the Maxima board use it. No problems - ever. They see about 6 - 8HP at the wheels.

These guys are selling the crank and alternator pulley for 180, but don't know what their reputation might be.

If you all can be a tad bit patient, there will be a real nice pulley available real soon and it is going to be sold for a hell of a lot less then that in any quanity.

I will be having the pullies made to my specifications. If I can prove it will work as expected then I will offer it for sale. If I can not show a benifit, I will focus on something else. I will not just throw junk on the market.

There is a lot of engineering going into this pulley. It is going to be the starting block of a whole lot of things that will use this pulley as a starting block to build on.

The CNC script is written, material source is all worked out, I am considering one last change and I should have that finalize in the next couple of days and if all goes well the first one or two should be cut by the end of the week.

This has been in the works for some time now.

I hope is there chance to make it for non-SC type too? (I guess it could cost less then SC type). And I just wondered, how hard to install the pulley? Is there and instruction?
