It is the weatherstripping that is holding it. I have a 94 and they were very slow also. In fact the window glass seperated from the clamp that holds it. I had to take the whole door apart and put the window back in the clamp that holds it to the sliding bar. I found that the weatherstripping, especially down in the door, was very dry. I put tire gel (tire detailer) in the grooves. The window went twice as fast when I was done. The only way to really get the lubricant in the weatherstripping groove is to take the window out of the door. Its probably possible to use something that will flow down the channel from the top.
