I really liked my front TT in snow and ice:

I read your link and a tire coming off the ground for me is extremely rare so I think the true trac would be fine, anybody ever use the cheaper Power Trax Lockright though?

i had a lock right in my 86 runner, it was awesome offroad, but it would be your worst nightmare on the sudden ice and snow, it is 100% power to both rear wheels all the time, no turn on and off, I loved it but for me that was my play toy, I drove it to jackson hole and back a few times but that was in blizzard like conditions and needed the locker, it was a blast around town cause every corner i would take on Ice, snow or really slick rain, i could spin out the rear end. For what you want do the trutrac you will be very very pleased.
