Question about backspacing on my new rims and tires

Hey guys. I ordered a set of 33x12.5r16 super swamper ssr's and some Mickey Thompson Classic ll's 16x8. I asked for 3 3/16's backspacing but he said that the Classics only come in 4" backspacing. This was National Tire & Wheel by the way. I want these to stick out some, unlike my stock tires that disappear into the fender. Will the 4" backspacing stick out? Help please.

they will stick out some.... more than the stockers would... as the stockers are 7" wide and have more backspacing than 4"

jimabena74, thanks for your quick reply and congrats on being a Daddy, I'm about to show my ignorance right here, but here goes, so the new tires would be 12.5 " wide right?

they are differnt measures... a 285 is metric and in millimeters.... when converting you cant jsut put 285 as the measuremnt for height, you must factor in the sidewall height... 285 is tread width in mm.... the sidewall height is where you get your height... lets say a 285/75/16 now you figure out height by taking 75% of 285 mm and multiplying that by 2 then converting that to inches, and adding it to 16 which is the rim height.....

there is a tire calculator on www.4lo.com has a bunch of useful stuff too

A quick and easy to check tires sizes is to go to Tire Rack and pick a tire and click on specs and sizing - the chart will show heights and widths. (Be aware that measurements may vary a bit from brand to brand but shouldn't be by much.)
