Wink Rusted channel and bad gear to arm weld

Nice to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this. As far as I can tell, the channel that grabs the window finally rusted to the point of no return. At that point the window jammed and as a result one of the gears welded to one of the arms on the regulator separated at the weld. A lot of rust in the area but probably a weak weld as well.

I replaced the channed and rubber gasket - it was a pain to get it on and I did use some soapy water - when it went on there was very positive feedback, it snapped in place. I am having the gear welded back onto the arm. If that does not work will have to replace the regulator mechanism, at least the motor still works!

I'm glad I found this forum! The drivers window stopped working the other day too. I hear the motor running and can't wait to open up the door to see what I find. One window at a time. This is a 94 model.

The rear wiper and the rear window are rigged up in a way so that when then rear wiper isn't properly seated the rear window won't go down.

A visual inspection showed my wiper was seated fine, but I turned it on then off again and tried my rear window and VOILA, the window worked again.

I'm so glad I found this thread!!! Scofco's tip saved me $400+ Thank you.
