I am all over this! If I can get away with doing the gauges also without having to wait forever on nine more people on the reverse indiglos... I'll do it.

do you know what wattage?
I did that at first, but the blue bulbs were not very bright, and were a blue-greenish tint, thats why i used LED's

okay so how much is the paint and then how much of it did you use, maybe all us Hawaii people can split the paint, because it doesn't look like you use that much? How about it Brian?

UK mail is great!

Just a side note on the positive of getting items from the UK, I have purchased 5-6 items over the last 2 mos from the UK, a car seat, a stroller, some auto lights for my Toyota, some parts for a Bently we are working on... etc

and all are sooooooo smoth, I dont get it , I get stuff from the UK to the West Cost in 4-6 days! If I got a package sent post, lets say even priority mail from Chicago or NYC it takes a week or more? strange but good cudos out to the UK Post and US Postal relations

I did my lights recently or would get some too, but I would feel confident in the delivery IMHO...

I know this thread is dated, but thought I'd bump it a tad, since it had so much good convo and info in it. Plus, lots of the posters are still regulars here.

Some asked about the ECT green light. If someone wanted to switch out their switch light, they could. The would just have to solder a new LED into the switch assembly.

Also, those small bulbs in the emergency, rear defroster, and rear window switches should have a standard bulb that could be inserted into the socket. I believe the 8640 will work. Here's a link to a sample of one. I have not tried it myself, but will be ordering shortly. If they do work, you could use UKMeyers bulb paint solution, without fear of bulbs burning out or breaking.

Cheers,
DrA>

True true. And I just discovered the name of those stupid tiny bulbs on accident.

They are called Neo Wedge. I stumbled on them with another post here at yotatech. I think you were the last poster on that one too.

I'd love to see someone whose done a complete gauge replacement thats digital. Check this out for crazy gauges. And this 80's retro.

My only concern is the speedo, which has the electrical pickup on it. I think its a hall effect pickup (the magnets and the glass tube on the back). Not sure what could be done about that. All the rest would be pretty straight forward do so with microcontrollers.

Cheers,
DrA>

I did try an 8640 bulb and its the right one. Of course, you need to remove the old bulb and insert the new one into the socket.

I have gel bulb covers in Red and Blue for those size bulbs if anyone wants them. They tint the bulb very well, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of switching the LED's and didn't want mixed colors on the dash. So they're just sitting around.
