just friggin shoot me....
I can not friggin believe this.. My truck started running rough at idle again!! Just did a compression check.. 0 psi on #5!!
Wet test and hearing the compression pop out the intake tells me # 5 intake valve is open!! WTF!! This had been less than 5k since I put these on... Well the guy is good about it, and he is tearing it down to find out WTF is going on!!! Can ya all guess I am pretty pissed off??
I think I am going to have him do the motor top to bottom.. then he can warranty the whole friggin thing!!!!
Is it really this hard to rebuild one of these heads??? Damn, if I hadn't just put so much into it all the way around it would be gone!!
I just can not get out from under it right now... $2500-$3000 for a new motor top to bottom.. or 10k for a Cruiser after my trade?? Just can not do it..
Lee~~~ Dang glad I shave my head because I would of pulled it all out by now!!

Man I know exactly how you feel. Back in Sept mine burnt #6. I had the whole thing rebuilt top to bottom for $3,690.00 + $857.00 Intall labor, $543.00 for the Downey Ceramic Headers & crossover kit & $296.00 to replace the exhaust to 2.5".
Then 7000 miles down the road the remote oil cooler blew off a line & I got to do it all over again. $2,150.00 rebuilt the whole motor again + $679.00 Install labor.
I feel your pain.

That's really bad news. Sorry to hear it. Its probably cheapest to get a cylinder head from a junkyard and have a shop intsall it.
Please keep us posted as you learn what went wrong.
Good luck.

I can not.. way too much into it now.. Junk yard head?? Nono.. These are brand new.. The shop just did them 5 k ago!! He is going to pull the intake off and take a peek and we will go from there.
Little history, this is the second set of heads I have sent out in the last year to have the valve work friggin fail!!
Oh, well.. my Hi-lift jack mount came in today.. And I just found out why my T-bird did not like to start in the rain..
Newish wires were on it so I did not think they were bad, so today I said hell with it, I will replace them... I pulled off the wire from my Accel coil pack and saw a little brun line going down the tower.. (yep, coil wire arcing under the boot to the coil pack when it was wet.. So I silicolned it with some high heat and put the new wire on ) Yes, I am too cheap to replace it... I will see how this works.. I passed the hose test very well

Sorry to hear about your Yota troubles. If worse comes to worse, (as it sometimes does) I think Performance Products has about the best deal going right now. Its $3,835.00 for a long block, only 675.00 core charge. It says full 3 yr., UNLIMITED mileage warranty.
Again, sorry bud. Hope it turns out to be just the head and you can get it warranteed by the shop.
Best of luck!

Just found this site for rebuilt-motors. Prices seem decent, but I didn't go into their site any further. Hope it helps someone.

Not bad prices.. But seeing as how I have already had the heads done he has to stand behind them.. But I did the install so if he has to pull off the heads is is goiing to run me 2000-2500 for the rebuild.. So... it is the cheapest way to go still, and he is local.
I can not wait untill I find out what went wrong! But, heck.. he may be able to fix it with out pulling the heads.. I just dobut it...
