injector question

Hey guys, I was just wondering if a set of the 3.4 injectors would work on my 3.0. I want to pull my injectors out and have them "ultrasonically cleaned" or whatever, but don't have the money right now. However, I do have a set of the 3.4 injectors with almost no mileage on them. If they will fit, will they give me any kind of increase in power? sounds kinda stupid, but i thought it was worth asking.

I would say go for it, they are very similar. The only thing I can see happening is a loss in gas mileage.

One thing to think about...I'm not sure the ECU in our 2nd Gen's can take advantage of the increased flow (or whatever is different) of a 3.4L injector.

ahh, good point. I think I'm going to build my intake this weekend, so I'll have a little extra air-flow. I've heard about people cutting open the afm and doing some fine-tuning on the potentio-meter, maybe I could do that to trick the ecu. oh, and where do you live in SC? My dad lives kinda between Greenville and Spartanburg.(Hwy 101, BMW plant exit)

As long as the connector matches, they should work fine.
Even if they flow more it will not add any power unless you change airflow somehow.
Most important thing is to ensure all the injectors have the same flow rate.

I wish i had another set too because I would love to send mine out for a cleaning but....
I still need to drive it daily.

If you want to sell the 3.4L set when you get yours back, let me know!

I go to school at Clemson, but my parents live right outside Columbia.

Just a word of caution -- be careful playing with that AFM...I believe it is a very expensive piece to replace if things get too out of whack!

Yeah, I have already replaced that thing once, but I got a killer deal and bought my friend's from his rolled '95 4Runner. I got it for $50.

no, they wont fit the engine-- again, it depends on the year. The 98+ injectors have air injection orifices that are not provided for and are different lengths than the 3.0 engine injectors. but your welcome to try, theyll just leak all over the place and probably fry your ecu. Also, i just happen to have some 3.0 injectors that didnt fit in my 3.4 engine lying around that i also thought would fit ( they dont ) if you want them, let me know.

Dang, that sucks. I was hoping that they would work. I believe that the injectors are from a '98 model truck. If they won't fit, what condition are those 3.0 injectors in that you have? Have they been cleaned? That's the reason that I wanted to use the 3.4 injectors, b/c i don't have much money to blow right now, but already have the 3.4 injectors. If yours are clean or new, would you be interested in trading for the 3.4's?

I had mine done at cruzin performance and that guy is a class act. Everything was exactly as promised and I think even a day or two faster turn around. I will post some pics of his work if you like just let me know. I think it was "Your total cost including return shipping via UPS insured regular ground comes to $75.40." That was for a set of 3.0 injectors. I paid Via paypal and the injectors where shipped back UPS the next morning.

that sounds great. I think I'm gonna give him a cal next week. Did you notice any increase in power after having your injectors cleaned?
