Injector cleaning

Well, I sent off my Fuel injectors to Cruzin Performance and just got back the test results. I guess they weren't in too bad of shape. Looks like the No. 5 injector was the worst of all about 6 off from the other five on all the Preliminary tests. Looks like they're all pretty even now and I feel good about not having to worry about them.

Thanks to whoever recommended sending em off. Can't remember

Have you noticed any change in performance? I am guessing youre gas mileage will increase too.
I had mine cleaned and flw matched a few months ago too. I noticed that it idles better and the mileage has increased slightly. no real HP improvement though.
I have a 22-re though.

Well, I actually haven't gotten them back yet. What they do is run tests and clean them, Repair any parts replace all o-rings and grommets, etc.

Then he sends you an email telling you how much it is and a link to a website where you can review your test results. You then send money via paypal and he ships them back.

I'll keep you posted. I won't really be able to tell if it's the injectors since I'm also popping in a new engine.

What I plan to do is when I get my 91 up and running I want to take out the 94 injectors and have the same thing done on them. I'm starting to have some hesitation at acceleration and want to see if it's the injectors.

Mine was $81. That included Testing before cleaning. Cleaning/repairing. retesting and shipping back. It's $12 per injector to Test, Clean and put new o-rings and various parts back on. Plus shipping/handling. I didn't think that was too bad. I think he even has a service where you can ship off and just have them tested for $4 each. Not sure if you can then have them fixed if they're not up to snuff or what. I bought this car with 130,000 mis on it so I don't know if anything had ever been done to them.

He said he's running at about 4-5 days from the time he gets them to shipping back out. I called around locally and they wanted $29 per injector plus parts.

Any difference between this and having Toyota do it at the Stealership?

Damn... flow, volume, pattern, resistance, leak down and static tested !

All I've ever done was take 'em out and spray brake wash into them until I got a nice, even spray pattern. Then changed out the "O" rings, lubed them and threw them back in.

Is all that you had done actually necessary ?? Or is it that I'm missing something (although it won't be money) ???

Well, most likely not. But if you're me and you don't know what you're doing it's absolutely necessary. I know that they're in good shape now instead of hoping something I sprayed in them worked. I mighta wasted my money, but for me the $81 is good peace of mind.

Y'all gotta realize that not everyone on this board are super mechanic heads. Some of us are playing at it.

the cleaning may not be worth it but the flow matching is.
This ensures that every cylinder is getting the same (or close to the same) ammount of fuel, which allows it to burn more evenly across the board. So, if every cylinder is getting the same ammounts of fuel there will be an even distribution of power from every cylinder. Making the engine run cleaner and more efficient.

Don't anyone laugh when I ask this :::I can hear the chuckles now:::

With the no. 5 injector being further off from the rest could that have help cause the demise in my blown engine? Again, I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to engines so that might be the stupidest thing anyones ever said on here. If so just ignore me!!

"Flow matching"... all I've ever done is keep spraying in brake wash and "eyed" the pattern for matching, and/or, sprayed it until they looked even in spray pattern... "we don' need no stink'n wrenches...we use our teeff..."

And I do have to agree with you, "peace of mind" is worth whatever the cost.

p.s. I'm no "super mechanic head" or anything of the sort.
I, too, stumble about blindly as I wander through the unfathomable enigma that is 4Runner, I just tend to trip over more stuff because I've got BIG feet.
