There is a guy that lives near me that has a mid 90's diesel Landcruiser. I didn't think these were ever imported here. It has an Arb bumper also. I'm keep trying to flag the guy down to tell him I'll buy it if he decides to sell it.

what about the fj-40 style land cruisers that toyota STILL MAKES in other countries? last time i went to costa rica, every other vehicle was a diesel powered fj-40. drove by a toyota dealership in san jose that had a row of new ones sitting on their lot.
here's a pickup version on their website:

I think Toyota will import the diesel truck into US market sooner or later since Jeep is in the process of making one now, the Liberty. I would love to have a 80 series Land cruiser with a turbo diesel!!

I don't want to start trouble here. I think we r all being duped by these new 4x4's out there. Look at that crappy approach angle. Let alone paying all that $ for a less than capable 4x4. I'm sure it's got a nice interior but it's a nice snow car. People have really started to pay big $ for station wagons with 4 wheel drive. I think the department of transportation needs to reavalueate vechiles and look at cars differently. I think the guys building tube buggies need to get government grants or funding to build more street legal tube buggies that could be safe and pass a crash test. I think that Chromemoly tubing and proper reienforcement would be alot safer and easier to repair than unibody contruction. I know a place that sells chrommoly cheaper than mild strength steel. Think about how cool it would be to live in a society of awesome tubular 4x4's everywhere. It would stiumlate the economy. provide alot of jobs for stuff such as plasma cutters, tigwelders, tube notchers. I know i've gone of topic with this but imagine being able to go to a home depot or walmart and pick up plasma cutters or tig welders. I mean your talking millions of new jobs to be created here. Didn't mean to stray off course just had a vision that's all

What I owned in highschool... lol... and now I'm in a 4runner.... good but never the same. I had an extended FJ 70, '96 white and GORGEOUS. Manual, locked front and rear difs, 4WD, no air and no power steering.
This was the dealership where I bought it off of. (Middle pic)

i drove one of those prados in costa rica for a week. it was a diesel model. damn thing had plenty of power and very quiet. you couldn't even tell it was diesel from the way it sounded. no lag either. we had a 4 people with plenty of crap in it and it had plenty of gusto, even in the mountains. it just sipped fuel.
wouldn't mind that vehicle out here. very nice.
