um, yeah, down here in Oz ute means utility.
I usually picture that as an old holden with a bed or tray...

What about these new SUV-Utes then?

Not to re-open an old can of worms but like hedgehog noted here in ontario the MOT issues commercial vehicle (truck) plates to Hilux owners and private vehicle (car) plates to 4runner/surf owners...who's gonna argue with that?...(I think of 4runners as trucks though unless they are these new duded up poser rides 'yota is pushing these days...and oh yeah! REAL TRUCKS DON'T HAVE AIRBAGS!...Cheers Aviator

So what is a Sequoia? It's build on tundra chasis so truck right?

But then you have those bling bling escalades or that soccer mom driving a denali... are those SUV's? They are on truck chasis too, I do believe.

I call mine the "Truck" or the "Runner."

As for Rav-4s, I call them lil bitches.

Escalades and Bling Bling SUVs, hmm. I dont think Jesse Jackson would be to happy with what I call those. Lets just say without the NBA, we wouldnt have to worry about what to call them.

I definitely call my Runner a "truck" and never a SUV.

Man o man, my friend and I have been arguing this for YEARS! It all came about when I wanted to Tahoe (imagine that!). I called it a truck and he said it was an SUV. If you ever see a late model GMC Yukon, (up to '99 I think) look on the back. Next to the GMC on the rear door, it says "TRUCK". The defense rests.

I wish Louisiana Motor Vehicles Dept. would consider them trucks. Cars have a $40 two-year registration, while trucks have a $40 4-year registration. I just get the 2 year deal. (And yes I know I still shouldn't complain, I'm originally from CA and I know how ridiculous some states registration can be).
