Carpet and pad WET under Husky mat!!
The other day I thought I smelled a kind of damp odor,, hmm I thought this thing is sealed pretty well. Or so I thought when I pulled my husky liner I found that in fact the carpet was Wet not damp but wet! I tried to think back it has been pretty dry in FL and I have not done any water crossings lately.... I did go to the DIY carwash a few days prior to noticing this. The only holes I have in the floor are 2 small ones where screws go through to hold my strobe box in place and besides that they are on the back side of the hump under the seat. It seams that the water is draining down and accumulating at the lowest part on the drivers side. Anyone had this happen?
Thanks Aaron

I am a victim of the phantom wetting as well. I pulled my drain plugs and made sure they fit properly, I even siliconed around them to be sure. This didn't help the situation. I can drive all winter and not experience any wetness, but I go through a undercarriage wash and I'm damp. I believe it's a pressure aggravated problem. There is a small clear piece of tubing that runs under the carpet. I don't know what this does. I thought perhaps it had something to do with draining the cowl/windshield/roof rack area?? I doubt your stobe mounts would cause this, but you oughta back those screws out and cover them in silicone before you put them back in.

I have husky mats in the front and cargo area and I get wetness under the mats too. I posted here a while back about it, but never could find the culprit.

OK well im relieved to know im not the only one but i will keep searching the only other thought is that the clips where the carpet attach to the floor have some gap so maybe when bomb charging highway puddles it gets in, need less to say im going to get a tube of silicone and go inside out at least on the floor.

My last 4Runner had a chronic wetness problem as well. Mine turned out to be the main firewall gromett on the driver's side where a few wires pass through. An alarm installer had routed the wire on the *outside* of the grommet, and not through it. The gap was small, but let in LOADS of water. Be sure to check that.
Also, that clear tube is likely the one used for your rear window washer. The only other tubes in there run down the a-pillars to drain the sunroof (if equipped).

Some of you seem to live in regions with high humidity. Is there a chance the Husky mats are trapping heat from the exhaust under the floor and somehow causing wetness (in conjunction with the humidity)?

I thought about that. But there isnt 900% humidity here in FL and this is so wet you could suck it through a straw. It the same wet you get when the floor isnt sealed so well and you do a deep water crossing.
Thanks
