Aqquired only TRD S/C unit, What do I need now?

I just bought a black (2nd Gen I believe) TRD supercharger for my 99 3.4L Tacoma.
It is only the supercharger (I paid $600 used, is that a good deal?) there are no belts, idler pulleys or anything, it looks just like the pictures come up on google, no bolts or anything, just the unit. Without spending too much, what do i need and where do I get it from to get this thing on and running? how long does it take to install I am descently mecanically able? i don't really want to go buying URD fuel injector kits yet or anything though...

Plus, It looks brand new but he said it needs a new cone bearing... how do i test for that and should i bring it to toyota, or press the bearings out and go to a Bearing specialty store?

Some help would really be appriciated cause I want to get burning rubber (not just in the bed room ahah)
Thanks,
Jeff

Well i don't have a SC yet but i would take it to a toyota dealer and let them look at it, that is where you will most likely get most of the parts to get it working.

BUT you really should get the URD kit if you want it to work right. Without it it can lean out and ruin your engine.

Someone will come along with more info i am sure

s/c fuel mods

i've done it all...just get the 7th injector kit from urd so you can use your new super charger---or just sell it. you'll need the fuel pump, new thermostat,
make sure your intake is opened up with one of those mods, upgrade your spark plugs...do the research on this site and enjoy---runnin the 3.4 with the s/c is the only way to drive one!!!...as long as it's not lean

Once again until 2005 TRD was not a part of TOYOTA. The most that most Toyota dealerships know about Supercharger is what the install manual tells them. You can find out more info on here, then your toyota dealership will beable to tell you. go check out gadgets website about his 4runner and read his info. lots of good stuff. i paid 1200 for mine with out the dynamic tensioner. So as long as you can get the rest of the parts for a reasonable price your ahead of me. tensioner is going to cost you about 125 new from toyota you want the complete kit so that you get the mounting bracket for the tensioner too.

thanks guys for the help.
Do you think i can just get away with the 190 fuel pump and the better themastat, Deckplate Mod and Ik22 spark plugs?
also how bad is it to run it with a bad nose bearing?
thanks

you will destroy the supercharger eventually witht he bad nose bearing. eaton will rebuild it for a very resonable price. i think they also sell a kit so you can rebuild it your self. The deck plate mod isnt going to help and neathe rare the spark plugs. Although you do want to run a cooler plug with the SC. The problem is that with the stock injectors your Truck will be running to lean. the only way to fix this is ad a 7th injector or replace your injectors with bigger ones. The Thermostat is to keep the engine cool. if you read gadgets page, you will find he was seeing 300 degree intake temps post supercharger prior to his adding a water injection kit. MT_Goat is still having Temp issues.

BTW this is Gadgets page

Nose bearing - call Magnusson (sp).

Parts you'll need:
dynamic tensioner kit. 120 or so from a toyota dealer (think TRD is limited to selling out of Toyota dealers now)
1 way valve - no clue where to get this
throttle bracket. need to source this. if you have a manual; this is an easy part to make yourself.
all the other bolts can be found at mcMaster Carr.
Vacuum hose and tees from your local autozone.
Belt - 30$ maybe?

Parts list from the TRD install manual. (Found at custom tacos). EDIT - meaning this has bolt pitches and lengths, vac hose diameter/length, etc.

hey
Thanks for Helping me out I really appriciate it. I just got back from the toyota dealer and they admit the are useless... and that I am better off calling TRD usa myself to get parts instead of them being the middle man... sounds to me like they are just being lazy. I asked what I needed and no one there had a clue. so I'll look into the last two posts for those parts, as for the fuel Mod sounds like I may have to step up to the URD fuel kit (or 7th injector.. don't know whats better....??) I was really hoping there was a cheaper shortcut to getting more fuel like just replacing the fuel pump, thermastat and maybe ordering just the injectors and sparkplugs, don't know if that works?.... $1000 bucks on a urd kit is alot to me. i don't need a ton more horsepower, just don't want my engine to ping or blow up... do i really need that urd computer box? (don't know my lingo sorry)
thanks again for the help guys.

I plan on just useing bigger injectors but you have to be careful with this too its not that easy to do either. Anyway umm the reason that the stealership is useless is because trd wasnt a part of toyota till Late 2005 early 2006. so they didnt have access to all the part lists and numbers till then and they had to call trd like everyone else. If you call trd and give them the part numbers of the parts you need they can transpose them to Toyota part numbers and then you can take those to the stealership and order the parts. I dont believe you can order direct from TRD anymore.

Sounds like a deal

Where did you come across a S/C for $600!? The cheapest I've seen was $1100 on Craigslist. That $500 you saved for the 7th injector Good job!

haha I got it in seattle from some guy.... it looks brand new but he said the nose bearing went so he took it off. the bearing seems fine when i twist or shake it though..... dont really know how to test it.
Also, I found a guy that will sell me the URD fuel kit new for 500 but without the fuel pump and thermostat. whats better the fuel kit or URD 7th?
hopefully I can get this thing on soon! thanks again for the help guys! no I just gotta track down those parts!

I'd definently look at getting it rebuilt before I'd use it. You wouldn't want it coming apart and throwing bearing parts into the engine intake.

hmm, this is true. I found some part numbers for replacing the nose cone bearings here at:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/h...gen-s-c-31363/

I will probably go that route. do you think the 1st Gen bearing part numbers match the 2nd Gen?

This way it is under $30 to do, or I can order the whole nose drive from Magnuson for $330 and from what I've found, at least for the 1st gen (mine is 2nd) TRD sells the refurbished nose cone for $163 plus a core charge for your old nose cone which is $200 but is refunded when we get the old nose cone back.

I kind of doubt it, but I don't know.
