well if anyone really gives a ˟˟˟˟, heres an update on what has hapened. i start working today at 12 noon and i finished up at 530 pm.... so after 5 1/2 hrs i have just finished taking the timing cover off and started scraping gaskets to prepare the stuff to go back on...... next time tomorrow i will be putting in all the new chain, tensioner, sprocket, blah blah.... basically i got to like step 27 out of 55 so im half way there.... i think thats pretty good for a novice mechanic....only thing now is to remember which bolts goes where ahahahaah - steve

I just did this on an 86 Toy last weekend. I am not overly mechanically experienced. One thing I found to be very helpful was making a template out of cardboard for the bolts. Another thing I did was remove the radiator, that made it a helluva lot easier getting to it and replacing all the parts. the whole thing took me about 7 hrs to do. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
