Airaid MIT Install Question

Airaid MIT Install Question

I have done the free FMU mod on my Runner, so my vacuum hose was re-routed from the intake to the boost port. The Airaid kit ships with a threaded fitting that you are supposed to use to connect that vacuum hose to. What have you S/C'd guys with the Airaid kit done to plug this hole on the tube? Did you buy a threaded plug for it, or go for a homemade plug? tia

cant you use some vacuum caps ?

well i guess you would need some hose barbs first

Why use anything but a plastic threaded plug? If you cannot find one, try a Pool and Spa store.

I used a vacuum cap like Elton suggested. If I go back to stock for some reason it will be really easy to re-route the hose. Thanks for your suggestions.

looks great and that vacuum line that go's from the air box over to the evap you can ditch that

Ummm... no.

If you skip that line the EVAP will vent under the hood - those are gas fumes from the fuel tank. If you just plug the line at the canister, pressure will build up, and it'll vent through the gas cap. Not good.

sorry i was in a hurry and didint finish it i meant you can use a small valve cover filter on the evap side thats how mine is works fine

No... that lets fuel vapors vent into the engine compartment - VERY dangerous in terms of things going

well great time to go get some vacuum line i did it cause from what i read here it was fine to do guess not

On a side note: In Bob_98SR5's writeup on the ISR mod, he talks about the power steering pump hose that comes out of the intake silencer box. He says in the very last paragraph of this link: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f130/intake-silencer-removal-mod-3rd-gen-4runner-2000-a-75168/ to re-route that hose to the FPR. My truck did not have the power steering pump hose going to the intake silencer, and the port on the silencer for the PSP hose was capped. Is this normal? The writeup he did was for the same year truck, so I presume we should have a very similar setup under the hood. Does anyone know why my truck would have already had the PSP hose re-routed? tia

Hard to say... Did you buy the truck new or used?

The PSP hookup is to a vacuum switch that's in the PSP that kicks the pump into a higher output so that you can get more assist in turning at lower speeds. For this to work, one line should be hooked up to either side of the TB.
