Regarding vacuum actuated ADD

Are the VSV2 and VSV4 solenoids constantly energized? (individually).. If I'm driving around on the street in 2WD, is the VSV2 solenoid getting constant power, or is the power momentary and once the clutch sleeve is in the 'dis-engaged' position is the solenoid de-energized? And Vice-versa for 4WD and the VSV4 solenoid?

In 2nd gen 4Runners they are constantly energized, this keeps a constant vacuum source to the actuator. Not sure about newer vehicles but I would think it's the same.

Thanks, should be easy to confirm with a DMM. I'm at the wiring stage of my conversion to 4WD - finding out I don't have (from the factory) certain relays and connectors on my 98 PreRunner. Creating my own ADD VSV solenoid harness, powered by switch in cab or position switch on the tcase... Wasn't sure if constant power to the VSV solenoids would burn them up...

SOrry, I know old thread.. but my question is related and isn't worth a new thread

SO, I toook my ADD actuator off to remove the front diff cover and so on... I marked which hose goes to which side of the actuator, during the removal process i pulled the two vac hoses aside and both of them had a splice with a mickey moused plastic tube that I hadn't noticed, so the tips were pulled off... result? I don't know which VSV is for which side of the actuator. I tried to use the fsm, but my problem is that I can't find which in the car is VSV2 and which is VSV4. Can't energize the system yet to see which is normally on/off, so..

Can someone tell me which color VSV is VSV 2 and VSV4?
