'90-'95 4R OEM Tire Size
For those with 90-95 4R, can you guys check the drivers side door jam and see the tire size listed on the sticker? The door jam on my '91 4R SR5 V6 reads "225/75/15" for the tire size. I want to know if the 4R may have come OEM with 31x10.5-15, even though the door jam reads 225/75/15? Since the overall diameter of these two tires are different, I want to be sure I put the correct tire size so my speedometer/odometer are correct.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Is yours 4WD? What size tires are on it now? I can't really remember the rhyme or reason for what size tires came on 2nd Gen's, but I'm guessing that most every 4x4 V6 came with 31's on it, especially in the later years. Also, the transmission may have some effect on what tires you got.
Just get the 31's anyway...you would hate having 225's on your rig!!! Or, you could get 32's....

They all say 225/75/15, as far as I know, weather they came with the 31's or not, check the code for the gearing, that should let you know for sure, it should start with a G.. for example, mines G144.
Then check this page to see what you've got..

It is my understanding that most of the 2nd gen door stickers said that size.
I have heard that some folk's who had the 31" tire option from the factory their doors still said 225 for the tire size, while I have heard from some that their stickers said 31" on it.
Kind of confusing 'eh?
My sticker says the 225 size, and I am geared for that.
The 31" tires were put on later.
I wish they would have all came with the 31" tires, then we'd be geared better.

"door sill says....."
Mine says P225's. Right now I have P265 all terrains on it. I THINK it says in the owners manual that 225 equipped rigs had a 17.5 gal tank and the 31" equipped had a smaller tank... 15 gal. I think. I have a 17.5 gal. tank.

Awesome info... that's exactly what I needed... thanks everyone for replying! My numbers read G254, which means that the 4R should have 31x10.5-15 on them. The tires on right now are 235/75/15 - (note that they are not 225), so either way, the tire size is incorrect. The original owner bought these tires back in October '02 from Goodyear, and they have about 3k on them since. I'm hoping I can get some type of credit and get the correct tire size on. I know that original owner had also purchased the "road hazzard" waranty with the tires... think Goodyear will be willing to give me some credit towards a new purchase?
