Aisin manual hubs, locked, but 2WD speed question
Hi all.
In my old Trooper (Warn manual hubs) I would lock the hubs when snow came and leave them in all winter. That way I could go in and out of 4WD as needed. Lost a few MPG, but otherwise, no problems.
When I bought my '85 4Runner (Aisin manual hubs) the PO warned me not to leave them locked in over about 50mpg because ... "If you do, the front diff will burp some gear oil."
Can anyone tell me if this is true?

I can't verify or deny the "burp" affect on an '85, but I can tell you that every Toy with auto disconnect (that I know of) has it's hubs locked in and I routinely drive 70 mph without losing any oil.
