3rd gen winch bumper and introduction
Just wanted to officially say hello. My name is Max but when that is taken I use zukota as a screen name.
I've been around a while always wheeled and modded toyotas. My this summer I parted out my toyota based truggie
I wheeled it for a little over 2 years and it was a LOT of fun, but after my son was born, I wanted something that I could trail ride and go camping with. Lucky for me the wife had a 96 4 runner, which is now mine.
It already has a RB 2" body lift, Downey coilovers and 265 MTRs. I put my buggie winch on it, and the Lock Rite is in the tool box waiting for a free Saturday.
going to be spending some more time here soon, so I thought I would say hi.

Welcome!
Do you have any additional pics showing how the winch is mounted? That is a very clean install, and looks like it could be hidden even more with remnants of the lower valance.

Thanks guys. I'll post some pics more tonight (can't do it from work)... the bumper has made some progress from above, and yes the plan is to re-install the lower valance.
It started as a winch plate from bud built.. going to be running his skids soon

hi max,
very cool how you mounted that winch! close up pics would be appreciated as well as more explanation on how you fab'd and mounted it. this could be a poor but ingenious man's way to having a winch bumper!
thanks,
bob

Nice winch install. I like it, I didn't know there was that much room there. I don't think there is as much in a 2nd gen.
btw - what did you have to give your wife for the 4runner. my experiance is that it is usually way over market value. I have had to give my wife houses in the past to let me get a dog (good deal eh?). hahaha

Here is a better pic of the mount. Its raining out so the latest pics are going to have to wait. I've since cut the corner of the winch plate at a 45% and folded the lower 'brace' back up to meet the edge of the now cut plate. Currently the valance is about a 1/2" away from fitting.
