Taking over previous owners build page, purchased in June 2014 with shot pinion bearing, rebuilt it, through in a Spartan locker while I has in there, fixed all rear frame rust, gave away the bed to someone in RI, built a steel/wood bed.
Future plans tdi swap, have everything I need except time and a place

Very nicely done!
The bed looks like it can withstand the elements well. How did you darken/treat the bed? Also, what's up with the black rear wheel? Is it painted or powder coated or what?

Sandblasted painted with rustoleum heavy rust primer then normal rustoleum black, wheels a little too rusty to bother with, in the market for some newer ones, bed Prime and 2 coats bedliner in and out, whole frame also bedlined 2 coats, next step rear brakes probably just drum, shoes, hardware, and going to do the ever so popular 63" Chevy spring swap, BTW Luke still have that tool box? Might want to buy it and mount it sideways on the bed

That frame will literally last forever now ha! and I wish I still had it to give to you, sold it to a dude who was a PITA... My girlfriend saw you driving around yesterday and called me excited to say the truck was on the road haha

Why did you ditch the bed? It look pretty clean?

The bed was not that bad just needed some new corner panels, nothing says I don't care what my truck looks like more than a wood flat bed lol. I got all the supplies to build the flat bed for free, the frame is all made out of steel when I come across some free diamond plate ill take the wood planks off and weld on some steel. The Flatbed I feel gives more freedom for mounting d-rings tool boxes and lights.
Going to do a new timing chain in 2 weeks, has a nice diesel knock on cold starts and a knock at 60mph cruise, last one was done 50k ago but looking at the service bill seems like it was a cheap $50 chain, going with a lce performance chain with metal guides wish me luck

Love that Rustic Green color! I'm considering whether to clean up my existing Evergreen Pearl paint job or go with a reprint in another shade of green. Anyone ever seen Fashion Green (another traditional FJ40 color) done on a pickup?

And any advice on whether to keep original paint, with lots of scratches and dings, or repainted in a potentially more attractive (but not stock) shade of green?
