thanks!
That stop was mostly clothes, new socks, wicking base layer, picked up a couple new sun shirts and hats, light puffy for the wife, also a new can of bear spray and a bunch of dehydrated backpacking meals. Nothing too exciting, but I can post a pic of my gear layout. My big items are zpacks, not carried at REI or I'd buy them there too

Let me know how your center console works out! Mine is not the original hinge and might be beyond saving

Yeah, I'm not sure what your original grille was from (a 2wd maybe?) but I like this grille better personally. Your plastic bag on the tcase had me remembering a trip from FL to NC and back, hot air pouring off the engine and tranny up thru my torn rubber boot on the transmission. Also, feeling my tranny shifter on that long trip, it was very warm. So I changed to synthetic oil to hopefully help it run cooler, and I tried without luck to find a new rubber boot....ended up just RTV'ing mine back together and it has held up now for a couple years, but doesn't look pretty.

Thanks guys!
yea, the chrome grille is from a 2wd truck, i got it cheap just to try it. A few years ago I had dreams of going 100% stock with all the chrome. Then my cheap chrome bumper started getting rusty, I didn't want to put the windshield trim back on, i decided the fender flares look really good, and now I have 30 feet of airstream aluminum to recondition, so I've decided I have enough shiny metal in my life!

Quick blackstone report post, from the sample taken right after the 5k mile road trip

Wow, been awhile since that last post. So we took the RV for a most of a year trip, came back to Indiana and sold the RV, and then moved to Oregon.
Not much new on the truck front, I drive it on the rare occasions we need both vehicles, which is very rare since we both work from home, and I try to remember to change the oil at least once a year.
I did take it out on some forest roads once, and hopefully when it warms up can do so and do some camping now that I live out west.

Welcome back!
Lots more of our trucks out there in the Pacific Northwest the way I understand it.

And my wife decided she wanted to learn to fly. So we got those liscenses last year and an old but well maintained 1970s airplane. But as much as we loved the RV it's was a lot to try to maintain and not the most practical for shorter trips, we realized we're more minimalist travelers. So it's gone, and hopefully the truck will get a bit of love this year. I still haven't figured out the high surging idle, and it needs a muffler

Yes, a lot more! Here in the desert they don't rust away near as fast, I see multiple first gen 4 runners still on the road every week, in the midwest I was lucky to see one or two a YEAR. Certainly inspiring me to get out and work on mine.
Unfortunately the temptation to go buy one of these desert-preserved trucks is also high As much as I've invested in this one though I don't see that happening.
