Doomys 87 Turbo 4runner Build thread

I think this is the last piece of the puzzle for the long travel and possibly the transmission as well.
TRE adjusters got extended with some 1" steel rod. If I were to do it again, I'd get smaller diameter rod and sleeve it a bit. This works though and looks pretty factory. So I'm happy. I did not weld this, btw, a friend of @MaK92-4RnR who is a professional welder did it over 2 passes.
Pics as usual.
Chopped up the steel rod.
transmission shifter cover.

Didnt get the transmission installed, but at least i got a little bit of work done before i take a trip to pismo. I got the 1 off Dirt Designs Long Travel kit installed. I wanted to start the work on saturday morning, but its been so cold and damp here that the paintwork that i did friday night wasnt dry. So we settled to get to work on sunday morning. @dark_fairytales came out to lend his expertise to @doomy and I. We ran into a few issues that i didnt see coming(like the fact that the shock tabs are set up for a different angle, the fact that the T-bars are left and right specific, and the biggest issue is that the TRE adjusters were welded incorrectly so i ended up with one adjuster with 2 left hand threads and one adjuster with 2 right hand threads) that kept us from finishing by sunday evening. Since this is Doomy's daily i stayed home from work on monday to get the install finished. I left the TBars super loose and it showed. truck was soooo tilted forward that you felt like you were staring at the asphalt. I can say that the billies are limiting the down travel as well as the up travel. Im estimating i have about 8 inches of travel from fully compressed on the fenders to fully drooped. If i had shock towers and was running the fox air shocks, id have 10 inches of travel for sure. but thatll be down the road. Next step is getting the front end an alignment on friday. Next parts to buy will be McNeil Racing Fiberglass Fenders and JDFab Shock towers.
Parts Installed:
Dirt Designs LT
Bilstein 5100 Shocks
Trail Gear Extended Brake Lines
Sway-A-Way PowerBarz Torsion Bars
Custom extended TRE adjusters
Pics as usual
Painting the LT kit in the Light Teal paint that Doomy picked out after a coat of white primer.
Little place to paint. And Corona
Adjusters painted(this will be ruined later when i have to cut them apart to fix them)
Final coat
They dont look half bad. Theyre not perfect, but then again, neither is the truck, soooooo.
Doomy getting the hubs off and Dark getting the........somethign? off.
Where we left it sunday night. This is the point that I realized that i installed the drivers TBar on the passenger side. We had just finished cutting and rewelding the TRE extensions the correct way, so this was a kick in the pants.
Homemade Teriyaki Burgers for dinner that night. Yes, they are the size of my palm. about a pound each.
Trying out this "STANCE" thing that all the kids are doing to their cars nowadays. Did i do it right?
Doomy getting the wheels torqued down.
Finally on her own wheels again.
Taking it out for a shakedown and had to pose a little.
Ended up having to lift the front end up with the Tbars by about 4 inches to level the truck out.
Adjsuted and leveled. One thing to note is that the drivers TBar is WAAAAAAAY tighter than the passenger side. IDK if this means the frame is tweaked or what, but its kinda concerning.
Bumper looks like the width(when combined with some glass fenders) will be just about perfect. Super positive camber for the time being until the alignment gets done.
A Peek under the Exxon Valdez. I think Doomys choice of colors worked pretty well!

Yep! plan is to be there by august next year. so, ive got to get all my car projects done before then.
no, and i probably wont. Maybe when i get the fox shocks and JDFab shock towers, but this is still a daily driver and I dont want to take a risk damaging something.
