She's alive!!! Just need to finish bleeding the cooling system and set the timing when it gets to operating temp! It runs smooth, fired up on the third try! It has no cat right now, because the y pipe replaced it all the way back to the muffler.
I'm going to spray down the engine compartment to clean it up a bit, and wash it finally, it's been sitting for about two months. I'm super excited to have my truck running again.

I advanced the timing to 11-12 degrees, runs real smooth and has nice throttle response. I still need to bleed the cooling system again, it gets to normal temp then cools down to about a third between cold and hot. If i let it sit for a few minutes it reads normal again then cools down as i drive. I'm thinking I have an air pocket where the sensors are on the back of the lower intake manifold. I also need to set the idle, its around 1000 rpm's, and maybe adjust the kickdown cable for the trans as well as a good flush and new filter.

So far its running good, I'm having the trans flushed right now. I need to tighten up the exhaust clamps and set the idle. I also noticed that it gets to temp driving around town, but on the highway it cools down just enough to not engage overdrive. Im thinking that the cooling fan is at fault, its a flimsy cheap knockoff and i think it doesn't have enough weight to spin freely when cold. Causing it to spin all the time. I ordered a new aisin fan to see if it fixes my problem.

Well after the trans flush, she runs perfect! It stays at operating temp now, and overdrive works perfect. Im letting it cool down so i can tighten the exhaust clamps, and top off the coolant again if it needs it. Finally its running right! I'm going to replace the cooling fan even though its running fine, i dont want this flimsy one to grenade on me in the future. Time to celebrate!

Took the 4runner to ouray colorado last weekend and it ran pretty good. It stayed at temp all the way, but it would downshift every once in a while for a minute or two then would shift back to overdrive like normal. I may need to adjust the kickdown cable.

Very good. Nice to see a decent runner out there again. See so many that around here that are just old, rusted and trash.
So how's those headers working out? How'd you tighten them? Do you think it'd have been easier to attach if you had engine out, or is it manageable putting them on as tho motor hadn't been out?

i installed the add front diff with 4.56 gears and lockright locker, im thinking of putting a vaacuum actuator in so i can control the shift fork to unlock one side for a tighter turning radius. I still have the non add diff, im going to put 4.88 or 5.29 gears in it eventually if i dont decide to do a solid axle.

I'm still running 32 x 11.50's.
I pieced together a 1 1/4" body lift with heavy duty 1/2" bolts. i still need to install the body lift. On another note, my radiator cracker, crappy plastic tank. I found an all aluminum radiator for 235.00 that im going to order in the next week or so. I also ordered HPS silicone radiator and heater hoses in blue, they should arrive later today, so i will post pics of the hoses later. Im also going to order a blue vacuum hose kit through lce performance and ngk plug wires. Also i need to get a new fan shroud and im thinking of a flex fan as well. I need to re torque the valve covers and im going to paint the upper plenum either blue or black. Last, im trying to find caps for my header egr outlets for my egr delete, i have the various vacuum caps, 10k ohm resistor, and block off plate with gasket for it already.
