the camper top is on the side of the house for now. ill probably only use it on camping trips as my sleeping area haha. i wanted 33s but there would be rubbing due to the fact that i dont have a bigger lift lol...and i still need decent gas mileage out of this until i get a daily driver!

I'm a wing nut.. I got my threads ran together and thought you were talking to me. Lol. I just recently put my camper back on and I need bigger tires too.
Sorry.

I have a 3 inch rough country lift and run 33's. My rims have a big offset and a really deep dish though so I don't have any rubbing issues. It can be done. I can measure it if you want?

What kind of mileage are you getting right now?

haven't updated the thread in a long time, but I have a problem, last night driving home I took a corner, accelerated, then all of the sudden my engine started making a god awful sound, and missing pretty bad, rpms dropped at idle, only makes the knocking noise (sounds more like a violent tacktack kind of noise) when in gear going down the road, I dont know if the timing chain and guides have been replaced, has about 170xxx miles on it, i need to figure out the problem and soon, its my daily driver and i need to be able to get to work

Well remove the valve cover check for anything abnormal or metal deposits, do an oil change and cut the filter open to check for debris, if you have bad signs then time to pull out the engine!

It sounds to me like it's the timing chain, but the chatter should really only be apparent when starting cold. I have would recommend giving it a thorough listen to see where the sound comes from in the engine, because t-chain chatter will be relegated to the front of the engine.

I also agree that you should pull the valve cover and look for any problems.

so I pulled the valve cover, didnt see anything out of place, i also changed the oil, no metal shavings and no milkshake color. took it to the dealership my dads friend works at. they called, after not doing any real tests (compression, leak-down, etc) and they have said i have a miss (no ˟˟˟˟) not firing on one maybe two cylinders, asked if i want to pay 1800 for them to pull the head and look. hell no. i could rebuild it for that much...going in tomorrow to talk to the service manager to have them finish the tests. really hoping its a timing issue. if not...what would be a sensible rebuild kit to buy? Id like something that could give it a tiny bit of pep, but not full blown race truck stuff lol

Often a jumped t-chain will just seem like a miss. When mine jumped, I'd spent hours trying to chase down imaginary vac leaks and fiddling with the carb. Turns out it was much worse than I'd thought.

Enginbldr offers pretty much the best bang-for-the-buck rebuild kit you can lay hands on. He can do anything from mild to wild and takes the time to talk you through everything you have in mind to help you get a good picture of what to do.

Here's some pictures I've found of it out on different adventures, last ones of it and a makeshift sled we towed behind it
