Bike grips

Bike grips
Went for a ride tonight dialing in my Shimano SPD M324 pedals.
Broke the right pedal
Not where I can not ride, but I overtightened the adjustment, so now it no longer clicks for each tighten/loosen position.
Having a hard time still getting use to clipless.
I also flip the pedal over with my bike shoes on, but with the cleats/soles, it feels strange on the normal pedal side of the M324.
My grips suck though.
My hands hurt after a bit, they are so thin the grips.
Been doing more research on grips, and I have decided to go with the Ergon GA1s.
Here is a good review of them and an installation video.

Another review, there are a few online.

They seem to be very good grips.

those seem nice. this is totally my opinion cuz grips are all up to the rider but i really dont like lock on style grips. they r very thin rubber over a plastic sleeve so the rubber tends to wear quickly.
personally i like regular BMX grips like ODI longnecks. i ride bmx and mtn bikes so it could be cuz of bmx but i run bmx grips with the flanges cut off on my mtn bike, they r just more comfortable to me.
just my 2 cents but its not like grips r expensive so give them a try and let us know how they are

A little thin, but I wanted to try out a full finger one, and Mountain Bike Action gave these a very high rating.
I have two sets of fingerless gel gloves too.
Never heard of those, will have to them later.
Speaking of gloves, there is this mountain bike racer woman nicknamed "The gloveless one."
She does not wear gloves at all.
Her name is Emily Batty.

Whoa, it appears MTB racing attracts hotties like our Habanero and Emily. Even more impressive are Emily's list of sponsors. She must be very good.
Anyway, I'm pleased with new Ergon GX-3's. The small palmrests are effective and the extensions come in handy for climbing or resting while grinding. Both adjust independently for fine tuning. Also can be easily moved to different bikes without damage to bars or grips. Expensive, but I found mine on sale for about $55 I think.
The only potential downside could be an extension grabbing a branch and taking you out and long term durability in unknown, but I'd get them again.

Gloves are a little too much for me; I like having the feel of the grips. When I was a kid, I'd ask my dad for gloves when we were working and he'd say, "Leather costs money, skin grows back".

Saw her in an interview too.
Yes, she is very cute.
Besides going gloveless, she always wears that white necklace.
Kind of a trademark for her.

She has some vids on her site.
My grips show up Friday I think.
I still have Park tools trickling in.
The torque wrench and brake pad holder the neighbor just signed for according to the email from USP I just got.
Hopefully my lights show up today too.

Grips came Thursday.
They are very nice, much more comfortable than the stock ones.
With the stock ones I had to wear my Fox fingerless gel gloves as the Oakley long fingered ones have no padding, and the stock grips hurt after awhile.
With the new grips I can wear the Oakley gloves and it does not hurt.
I tried twisting off the old grips, no go.
They would spin, but not come off.
I discovered an easy way.
Roll the lip back that is the inner lip by your shifters.
As you roll it back like rolling up a pair of socks, you can then pull on the outer end of the grip and it comes right off.
I used my new Park torque wrench and tightened the lock rings to 3 nm.
I may have to experiment a bit where I want them positioned, I went by the one guy who made the video that is linked in this thread.

Good to hear the grips worked for you. My new grips eliminated hand and finger numbness also using full fingered unpadded gloves. Surprising how much of an improvement grips make.
I'm supposed to be doing yard cleanup today but it's so nice out I'm not sure how long that'll last before heading out for a trail ride.

What a contrast, from carbon fiber to cork, interested...
If I weren't nursing H1N1 contracted on a recent flight, I'd be out in passing showers today. Maybe tomorrow.
