tires, tires, tires...

Looking at getting some new rubber on the 91 PU here soon, and I'm lookin for suggestions...

here's a few I have in mind, but I'd like to get some word from someone who's had first hand experience with these tires...

Procomp Xtreme Mud Terrain

Procomp Mud Terrain 2 ply, or 3 ply

Firestone Destination MT

Interco SS-M16

But in the end, I may end up just going with one of the highly talked about on YT TreadWright tires, something like the D/Mud or D/Mud-S.

I read various reviews all over the net, but I want to hear some true YotaTech-er reviews.

The truck's my daily driver, and weekend warior. Looking for no bigger than a 33x12.5, and I'll be getting new black rims at the same time, to rim size is flexable.

I'm open to any suggestions, so lemme know what yer thinkin.

Thanks yall!

Ide say any super swamper but they will wear fast (best trail tires made). have you looked at Goodyear wranglers MTR's or BFG MT's. My old BFG's were nice DD and weekend trails but I would rather a more aggressive tread. Procomps I havent really heard to much positive but then again thats a he/she said right?

The M16 swampers look pretty cool.

I know the destinations are a good tire but are $$$ My buddy has run a few pairs and loves them

Nice tires too and for when you goo wheeling just turn them around cause it gives so much better traction that way!

Don't go with poocomps... I hear nothing but bad things about them...

I really love my BFG's. The rain/snow traction is not THAT great though...

Ok, right off the bat, this is 2nd hand info, but I did do a lot of research on the Firestone M/T. I didn't read many bad reviews (some said they wore like iron, others said they wore fast...the usual), but no one I heard of had managed to mangle a sidewall or had them fail in any way.

The only foibles are that they aren't great on ice compared to an all terrain, but you probably don't have that issue in Florida, unless someone spilled the daiquiri on the road. They priced like a BFG M/T.

Lots of people won't trust them, and that's often the first question they ask. I haven't yet heard of any failures with Treadwrights though.

I have some trxus mt's, but for dd'ing they wear pretty darn quick, good offroad though. i would probably buy them again regardless of the wear factor.

interco ssr's wear good as well. Well as good as a interco tire will. My neighbor has a built samurai with 33x12.50's on it and he said they are good on the road and in the snow and ice. More so than other super swampers because they have siping in the lugs. and it's a radial so it is decent on the road. they also have a slightly stiffer compound for wear on the road. He has wheeled it in moab and all over arizona and washington and not one chunk.

I'd vote none of thee above. Tall and skinny is a flavor very few of those come in. Personaly I'd just run BFG AT's and call it good, or if you want aN MT type tire then go BFG MT.

Pro-Comp's tires of Old were horrible but I hear they've adress alot of the previous tires issues with the new X-Terrain and teh fact that they come in 33x10.50 indicates that someone there knows a thing or two about wheeling. MTR's are garbage here in the NW or anywhere it's not sunny, dry and covered in slickrock

Skip all of these cosmeticly pleasing computer-designed Gucci tread paterns and go with a tire that actualy works. If you want a Hard Core trail tire, go LTB. If you want something that'll work in the other 95% of trail and street conditions go BFG AT.

BFG's SUCK offroad... the first hint of slippery mud they pack full and are worthless... Don't bother if you spend anytime on dirt/muddy trails..

pro-comps seem kinda notorious for having weak sidewalls.

IMO go for some BFG's.

My BFG's do pretty well in the snow, but we get mostly powder out here, if the weather is permitting where you live, the M/T's are a great DD/mild trail tire.
