Question on TPMS on 2015 Highlander
I have a 2015 Limited Highlander and because the weather changed, the tires needed air. I went to remove the pressure caps and all 4 felt like they were glued on. Because the pressure wasn't significantly low, I thought I would wait until I got home. Very glad I did as after I got home, I used a pair of pliers to try and loosen one of the caps. It pulled the pin (the thing you press to let air out), completely out. I have spoken to two different places, and both said I will probably have to have the TPMS system on that tire replaced because it is one unit. One said on third party TPMS, they are actually two pieces which avoids this happening. I thought I read somewhere that the TPMS on the 2015 was actually a 3rd party system that was retrofitted to work with the dash etc. Can anyone confirm this is true? My concern is that best case scenario is I will have to replace one TPMS on one tire and worst case is I have to replace all 4 because the caps almost feel like they are glued on. Any help or suggestions would be great.
